St. Petersburg
downtown apartments
Late in 2000, one of the first SPIRITS investigations brought the team
to the home of two sisters residing on the edge of downtown St.
Petersburg. Inside the apartment there was a tangible shift in the atmosphere, immediately sensed by all three investigators. The place seemed heavy and dark.
EMF was recorded. Temperature fluctuations were at a minimal.
Photographs showed only trace amounts of haunting activity, mostly auras
and possible odd shadows.
The women described a shadowy presence, abnormal and antisocial
behavior by the otherwise friendly dog, and strange noises that couldnt
be explained. One teammate sensed the presence of energy in an area where the
ladies explained they captured odd images in photographs.
Horatio Street Three apartments in a single building reported strange happenings. A couple of people correctly sensed areas of reported
haunting activities. One of the apartments hosted the spirit of the womans deceased grandmother, who had formerly acted as the building manager. At night, she would wake to the sounds of shuffling feet or the grandmothers call for help when, in life, she
fell in the kitchen, breaking a hip. Another had utensils disappear
and reappear, cold breezes, and the smell of perfume. From time to time an
abnormally dark area manifested late at night. The third had the
simple sensation of a presence sitting down on her bed as she rested.
The building, itself, contained a high number of tenant deaths. A couple died in traffic fatalities, one died from choking.
Unusual amounts of EMF were picked up through the building, but
EVP sessions were negative. Temperatures did not fluctuate, and only
one orb image appeared. Some who considered themselves normally
sensitive felt very little during the investigation, other than an
occasional sense of an entity that quickly faded again.

As we left, we told the keeper what a great idea that was. He didn't know what we were talking about; telling us no one sits in any of the planes. St. Petersburg, Ninth Street North

The inspection took place in a private residence located off Ninth
Street North in St. Petersburg. The home belongs to an older woman
and her daughter, who share the two bedroom, 1 bath dwelling with
two cats and a dog. The house itself was built in 1952.
The daughter believes in ghosts, but the mother is a skeptic. The younger
woman, who moved in with her mother in late 2001, had strange feelings
about the house from prior experiences.
"Before I moved in, Mom asked me to pick up her mail and newspapers
while she was away on a trip. I was about to go over one afternoon when
the words "he doesn't want you there" popped into my mind," she explained.
"I had no idea who "he" was, but I didn't want to go that
day!" The following afternoon, the daughter went to the home. Still feeling
watched and unwanted, she grabbed the mail and left as quickly as
possible.
When she moved in, the situation became stranger. On several different
occasions, she found her cats acting as if there was someone else in the
room. Sometimes, from the corner of her eye she caught movement, while
at other times, she sensed a presence standing in different parts of the
building. One evening she saw a shadow standing in the doorway to the
computer room. When she turned on the lights, it vanished.
The night the SPIRITS arrived and two guests accompanied the team.
Six people were present, including 1
homeowner, the SPIRITS team and the guests.
Shortly after the two guest investigators left, and the SPIRITS
packed their equipment away, the ghost made itself known.
Several teammates stood outside talking, while the daughter and Karen West, of
the SPIRITS, went back inside for a moment. Upon entering, the women
found the daughter's normally quiet dog madly howling as an intense energy
engulfed the room. The daughter felt herself being insistently pushed forward by an unseen
hand. She grabbed onto her computer desk for support
and the teammates grabbed for the equipment at hand.
The camera took 12 snapshots with flash, the
button depressing easily and the camera readily available. Of those,
three returned with orb images, one where the orb is clearly
distinguishable against the daughter's dark blue shirt.
Karen found a startling pink
image on one of her pictures. Karen wore no pink, nor did anyone else
present. Subsequent investigation located no pink in the room, on
furniture or otherwise. The pink anomaly, which drapes over the daughter's
legs and lower body like a skirt, remains a mystery.
Police records record no
deaths on the premises.
Since the investigation, the activity has died down, as have the ominous
feelings.
