The Clinical Development Program and Professional Training

The Centre offers a high level of expertise in training and staff development for all professionals working with children, parents and young people in the community.

The Centre’s training programs are recognised for accreditation for Continuing Professional Education. Training programs are run throughout the year and include:

  • Annual Foundation Course in Child & Family Development
  • Half Day Workshops
  • In House Training
  • Consultation and Supervision

The Centre runs training programs throughout Victoria and interstate for agencies and organisations concerned with child family mental health.

The TOPPS Program for Schools

A Whole School Approach to common issues faced by many schools today, such as:

  • How to involve parents in actively supporting school learning
  • How to manage problems such as bullying, children’s isolation and depression, and risk-taking behaviours within the school
  • How to value the contribution of staff, enhance their skills and minimise their stress

Training Programs Overseas

The Centre maintains regular contact with professionals in the field of child and family mental health overseas, particularly in the UK and USA. International colleagues associated with the Centre contribute to the training workshops and seminars. The Centre currently co-ordinates an international training project. Parents in Transition, in the Middle East focusing on the effects of migration, loss and change on infants, young children and their families.
