| DeeAnn started studying the violin at the age of 8, and began dabbling in Celtic music as a teenager in between orchestra performances. She pursued a degree in viola, but got sidetracked raising a family instead. Started fiddling professionally in 1991 with various Irish folk and contradance bands in California, then moved to Arkansas in 1995 and immediately went on contract at the Ozark Folk Center Theater, performing with various groups over the last few years. DeeAnn delights in playing different styles of fiddle music, from oldtime to swing, Irish to Klezmer. Her playing has been featured on many recordings since she began freelancing in 1978. This includes recording a song with Willie Nelson's daughter Susie, assisiting in the accompaniment for a contestant on the TV show "Star Search", and most recently soloing on the song, "Invisible Man" by Irish artist Gavin Coyle, on his new CD, produced by Jerry Lester of The Lovin' Spoonful, recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Expected release in 2001. DeeAnn has performed on TV, video, radio, and in the movie "The White River Kid", starring Antonio Banderas.She currently performs at the Ozark Folk Center and other venues in Arkansas, continues to do studio work, and teaching. |
