| Canterbury cathedral is the head church of the Church of England. There has been a church on this site for at least 14 hundred years, and the first archibishop of Canterbury was St. Augustine, who arrived in Kent in 597 AD. The town of Canterbury in Kent is situated along the busy A2 route to the ferryport of Dover. Many pilgrims visit Canterbury each year, and have done so for hundreds of years. |
