Birmingham's
High-rises
Birmingham is the United Kingdom's second city by population, with over a million inhabitants. The ciy has many high-rise buildings, but unfortunately most of them date from the period of quick construction from the 1960s and '70s, which today give high-rises nationally a bad name. However, the city has a lot of potential for the future, with some exciting, interesting high-rise plans unveiled.

The Holloway Circus Tower will be a 122 metre (440 foot) high resedential tower, also containing a 5* Radisson SAS hotel. When complete, it will take the title 'Britain's tallest resedential'.
The plans were originally for a 600 foot tower, but because of a breach of certain regulations, the tower's height had to be reduced.
It looks like it should be complete by early 2005, adding more prominance and variety to the Birmingham skyline. The building looks rather like the recently completed West India Quay in London, but as the image is just a rendering, it may be misleading.

The Birmingham Hyatt hotel, at 75 metres, is Birmingham's 10th tallest building. It was completed in 1990, and is one of Birmingham's more photogenic high-rises.
