Kennedy was the descendant of Irish ancestors who immigrated to Boston. His father started as a saloonkeeper and then became a political leader in Boston. He then graduated from Harvard and became a bank president at the age of 25. John F. Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917. He was the second of nine children. The family grew and the money increased so they decided to move to the suburbs of New York City. John's childhood was full of joy, but he did not succeed in school, he was ranked 64th out of 112 in his class. Although his classmates had voted him the "most likely to succeed."

John spent the summer of 1935 studying at the London School of Economics. He then entered Princeton University, and then in the fall of 1936 he enrolled at Harvard University. Faced with the problem of choosing a career, Kennedy worked for several months in 1945 as a reporter for the Hearst newspapers, covering the conference at San Francisco that established the United Nations. Ultimately he decided on a political career and returned to Boston. He took the place of his brother Joseph, who had seemed destined for politics but had been killed in World War II. In 1952, Kennedy was elected to a seat in the United States Senate.
