Activities
Sacristan

I'm involved in a number of activities.  Every other Sunday, I volunteer at St. Ambrose Church in Irondequoit as a sacristan (it's my calling).  If you don't know what a sacristan is, I don't blame you; I didn't know what one was when I started either.  At the beginning of mass, I put out the bread and the wine for mass, light the candles, and do whatever else is needed. At the end of mass, I wash the dishes, put out the candles and turn off the lights.  Basically, I set up and take down.  For the past couple of years, I've been sacristan for the Holy Thursday mass.  It's the most mystifying and holy experience.
This is Sister Gertrude.  She sets up the sacristan schedule and is my supervisor when I'm sacristan, even though my mom and I do it by ourselves.  She's one of my favorite people in the world.
This is the altar area of St. Ambrose.  The church recently underwent a major renovation in 2000.  I took this picture long after everyone was gone from 11:00 Sunday mass.
This is the stained glass window of Jesus. It's right across from where I sit in church.  I took this picture before mass.  The background is dark because there is subdued lighting before the start of mass during Lent.
Chorus

I was in chorus from fifth to eleventh grade.  I'm guessing that I was in over 30 concerts.  Occasionally, chorus can be bumpy when you don't get a piece that you like, or when your concert is a week away and you have no clue what the words are to your music.
My first chorus was at Plank South Elementary School with Mrs. Levy (she has since then retired).  I tried to be in my church's children's choir for Christmas, but I got very discouraged when I found out I was 12 and everyone else was 5.  When I went on to Thomas Middle School, I was in Mr. Tacy's chorus for 3 years.  Those were some of my favorite years of chorus.  Right now, he's a chorus teacher at Willink Middle School.  I was in Webster-Schroeder High School's Sophomore and Concert Choir for a couple years under Mr. Frost and Mrs. D'Angelo.  I'm hoping to join the RIT chorus when I get some free time.
