Montana Equine Massage Leeann "Lu" Garnas ESMTIII, Certified Massage Therapist, Natural Performance Hoofcare, Saddle Fittings, Consultation
Lu will be on hand all weekend for your horses needs.
I started Montana Equine Massage in 2004 with the hope of assisting horses during rehabilitation as well as in the demands of training. I wanted to be a valuable resource for horse owners during the rehabilitation process and focused my education specifically for this purpose.
As the business expanded over the years, diversity is what the horse community demanded. My education, it became apparent, needed expansion as well. Senior horses with aching muscles, young horses with strains while learning to use their bodies, performance horses with biomechanical imbalances hindering their ability to perform... With diversity comes opportunity, and I believe it is necessary to constantly re-educate myself to meet the needs of the horses in my care.
In addition to massage, other requests began to roll in: specific nutritional needs, saddle fitting, bit questions, biomechanical dysfunctions, and conformational profiling. After returning to EquiTouch Systems, Inc for Level 3 training in 2005, it became evident that more tools were needed to assist our equine companions.
UPDATE 2007:
Natural Performance Hoofcare was added in October 2007. This provides me with the ability to assist the horse from the ground up. Balance in muscles as well as the limbs can eliminate many issues. In addition, networking relationships with veterinary medical professionals – from surgical needs, to acupuncture, chiropractic and alternative medicine – are consistently being expanded.
Travel is also part of the demands placed on Montana Equine Massage. In 2007, travel included a jaunt to the HITS Hunter/Jumper show in Thermal California in January/February. Traveling to these shows continues my education and experience as the caliber of horse and the demands placed upon them is increased.
UPDATE 2008:
Travel: During the summer, Montana Equine Massage went to work at the High Dessert Classic in Bend , Oregon and made a quick trip down to the Colorado Horse Park in July.
As of November, Acupressure training started! This adds yet another dimension of assessment when trying to alleviate soreness, stiffness, and or dysfunction within the equine athlete's body.
UPDATE 2009:
Acupressure Practitioner Certification exams are June 8-9 in Colorado ! Keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck!
Travel: There are a few shows I am scheduled to attend throughout the Northwest this summer. Please let me know where you need me to be and I will try to get those shows included in the travel plans.
