Tony Parker
From Slough, west of London, Tony has been playing jazz since 14 years old, originally with big bands and modern jazz groups (how modern is 1950 jazz?) but has been into New Orleans styles since he arrived in NZ and is now acknowledged as one of the leading exponents of the style in Australasia.
Tony was a founding member of the Vintage Jazz Band in the 70s and his own Jelly Roll Jazz Band and later the Blue Bottom Stompers.
Tony has played with greats such as Art Hodes, Wild Bill Davison, Sammy Price and now of course with Bob Ward, Andy Massie, Barry Nielson and John Keatley.
An excerpt from the 1988 Sacramento Dixieland Jubilee programme says it all
"Check out Tony Parker for some of the tastiest drumming in the Jubilee"
