Fitzgerald meeting re: MiCASSA

Email report from Kevin Irvine of Chicago ADAPT Friday, April 21st, 2000

Good news regarding our attempts to meet with Senator Peter Fitzgerald about MiCASSA: I just got a call from Maggie Hickey, his State Director, and we worked out a compromise.

We will meet with Senator Fitzgerald by conference call, with us in his Chicago office and him in DC. Since it looks like he will be in DC for awhile this seems to be the best that we can get without flying to DC ourselves.

Also, I told her that we want to have this meeting with him prior to the May 3rd, 2000 MiCASSA kickoff. She told me that he has received the "Dear Colleague" letter from Harkin and Specter and that she and Jim Kawka (DC Health Care Policy guy) have discussed MiCASSA with the Senator.

Sooo, I will be calling her late Monday or early Tuesday to set up a time for the conference call! It seems that our second visit (4-20-00) made more of an impression than our first. FREE OUR PEOPLE!!!

If you have questions, please call me at 312-341-0022 ext. 321 (work).

Please spread the word!

Peace.
Kevin

We got the telephone meeting scheduled with Senator Fitzgerald! It will be Wed. May 3, at 9:30 AM. We need to be at his office by 9:15 and so we should probably meet in the lobby (downstairs at security) at 9 AM. Please call me to confirm that you will be going. So far, I have Gerald Britton, Larry Biondi, Mike Ervin (possibly) and Tom Wilson (possibly). You can reach me during the day at my work # - 800-537-2632 ext. 321 (800-610-2779 TTY) or my cell phone 773-368-7313.
