The Silky River Became Verbal

The silky river became verbal

And l could hear it speak

The thrashing of its verses

Began to sing

As it rolled along

It mentioned its tales

And became a poet

Trying to speak again

Few listen to its poems

Its prose and rhyme

No, people just pass it by

Or grab a bit to drink

But never

Never do they listen

To what it has to say

Verbosity is coined

By humans alone

But as I passed by

In the velvet darkness

The silky river became verbal

Inspired by Haley Scovell
