An outlaw has to be a lone wolf. You can't count on anyone but yourself. But sometimes, you want to feel the warmth of another body. (Jap vers) When you're convinced you have the upper hand, you leave yourself open. Never let your guard down until the fight's over. -- Leilong to Gene, Outlaw Star ep. 15 Nothing personal, but I'm here to kill you. -- fake Shimi to Gene Starwind, OLS ep. 15 Love Hina It's important to pack love and care towards a character when drawing them. -- Editor's paraphrase of statement by Ken Akamatsu (Love Hina Manga, Vol. 9, p.185 - interview) Kids these days can try hard as long as they have a goal; unwillingly they must study for midterms and finals, so they can make it through, and finally they graduate. But then what? They don't know what to do from there on .. I feel like that kind of thing parallels my situation. -- Megumi Hayashibara, Haruka's Voice Actor (Love Hina Manga, Vol. 9, p.185 - interview) It's not like I'm tying it to the intro song "Sakura Saku," but I feel that the song title fits Love Hina very well. Even if the cherry blossoms go out of season, it can bloom again the year after; even if the blossoms seem beautiful now and all is well, the cherry tree could wither. It's akin to maintaining your own "seed" inside of yourself. Just because things aren't going well, it doesn't mean you should give up; conversely, you can't let up even when the flower inside you is blooming nicely, as unforeseen obstacles may lay ahead. It's alright to reflect on yourself, imagine what kind of cherry blossom you are, to make sure that you're not blooming when someone tells you to bloom, and that you're realizing your potential at your own will. -- Megumi Hayashibara, Haruka's Voice Actor (Love Hina Manga, Vol. 9, p.186 - interview) Rurouni Kenshin There is such a thin line between love and selfishness. -- Sanosuke, Rurouni Kenshin ep. 6 A sword is meant to kill. Fighting techniques are ultimately used to kill. This will never change. -- Kenshin, Kenshin ep. 1 Well, if you feel like having a good asswhooping, pay me a visit. -- Sanosuke, Kenshin ep. 4 No matter who's in charge, it won't change who we really are. Removing weakness and corruption before it becomes a disease. And so .. Aku (Sin), Soku (Swift), Zan (Slay). This will always be the Shinsen Gumi way. -- Saitoh Hajime, ep. 28 Your ways of pacifism, Rurouni, are a fantasy. Your only choice is to become the Hitokiri or die. -- Saitoh, ep. 28 I have no interest in assisting such a narrow mind. -- Saitoh, ep. 29 Time has dulled your skills, but I didn't think it would dull your mind as well. -- Saitoh, ep. 29 As you said, 10 years is enough to ruin someone .. You say that you're this peaceful Rurouni .. You've allowed yourself the illusion of redemption while you have none. How could the master assassin, Hitokiri, protect without killing? Have you forgotten? Aku, Soku, Zan. -- Saitoh, ep. 29 My report: Himura Kenshin isn't a reliable killer at all. However, Himura Battousai has the potential to be very effective. -- Saitoh, ep. 30 Screw your shitty government! Us peoples are better off without it! -- Sanosuke, ep. 30 A dog can be appeased by food, and a man can be bought by money, but no one will ever own Mibu's Wolf. -- Saitoh, ep. 30 I sense someone's hate for me. Well, that's fine. No one's ever really glad to see the Shinsen Gumi. -- Saitoh, ep. 31 Be true to your nature, Battousai. -- Udo Jin-e, ep. 31 The Battousai is a part of me. My destiny will not allow me to escape this fight. Time has started to move again. I can't escape from my role in all of this. -- Kenshin, ep. 31 The most basic way to win a fight is to search out and focus on your enemy's weak point. -- Saitoh, ep. 32 In a real fight, there is no honor among men. What started in Kyoto was an all-out slaughter. Whoever killed his opponent was the winner. And a novice like you can't handle that. So stay here in Tokyo, got it? -- Saitoh, ep. 32 Run home and tell him, if he wants to meet me, come himself! If you continue to desecrate these graves, not only will I kill you four, but Shishio as well. -- Aoshi Shinomori, ep. 33 This is wrong. This isn't training .. This is the destruction of nature. -- Sanosuke, ep. 33 Aoshi-sama is the coolest. He became the leader of the Oniwa-Banshu at age 15. He's their most skilled ninja. He's very responsible and cares deeply for his clan. But he's never shown his emotions, ever. I've been with him for oever 8 years, but I've never seen him smile. I guess he still has the same attitude now. -- Misao Makimachi, ep. 34 I don't know the reason why Aoshi took care of you, but I can tell why he left you. As the leader of the Oniwa Banshu, he needed no unnecessary worries while fighting. That's why he left you at Ji-ya for your own good. Put all this behind you and try to forget about him .. for your own happiness. -- Kenshin, ep. 34 My journey will cause me great danger - anytime, anyplace. Therefore, I travel alone. They don't want to wind up like Okubo. You are aware that government officials are still people like you. The most important thing to them is themselves. They're praying someone else will clean up their messes for them. -- Saitoh, ep. 35 I worked as you do now, a devoted slave to the Ishin government as their successor to the Battousai. However .. when they didn't have anymore use for me, they tried to erase me. Only because I knew their dirty little secrets. They tried to be sure by burning me, but I didn't die. Because of my burns, my body constantly produces adrenaline. The flames of hell burn inside me, and they burn all the time, as if I'm still on fire. But that's not why I wish to hurt them. Truthfully, I thank them for this. My injuries have taught me a great deal. When you trust, you are betrayed. If you become too comfortable, you get killed.
