Ironclaw:
The anthropomorphic roleplaying game.
Ironclaw is a game that happens in the turning point of a continent's history. Noble houses clasp at each other in a seemingly endless cold war. Bandits and highway men make travel dangerous, political coups and assassinations are the norm, and powerful wizards plot for themselves.
It is a romantic view of a renasance-type era where that swashbuckling pirate you play could become rich and famous. Oh, did i forget to mention; that pirate is also a wolf? It took someone
long enough to make a decent furry RPG, but here it is: Ironclaw.
Now, before you get all confused about the wolf pirate, i'll explain to you good people what a furry is. A furry is any human like animal, or
an anthropomorphic animal to you smart people. A good example would be the majority of the loony tunes; they are animals, but they walk, talk, look at attractive members of the oposite sex, etc. just like we do. It's
hard to explain, so look at this. Yes, that's what a furry is.
So, as for the game... hmm. A good place to start would the setting. As i said, it is in a renasance-style era. It has all the necisary trapings of this time period; guns have recently been invented, noble houses are sending out ships to explore the unknown and start trade routes. But this is an RPG... so magic does exsist, and historical liberties are taken.
As for the system; it's pretty good, and well balanced. It is a low-level system, so making a god-like character is pretty tough and takes quite a bit of time. Magic items are attainable, but they have to be made or they are rare. The heaviest armor isn't nessicarily the best, and niether are the most powerful weapons. This is not a hack'n'slash system, both the charcters and GM must put something into this game to get something out of it.
The only major flaws I can see with this game is the lack of monsters and a steep learning curve. Except for the magic and PC furries, this is a very historical game. These aren't nessicarily bad things, but it certainly is different... much like the majority of this game.
Ok... Now for some fur-tastic links.
