| Ch. 3 A day before her birthday she was out training with Breanna, Trenton and her father. Her mother was inside making up a birthday cake so they could celebrate a day early because Shianne wanted to go out with friends on the actual day. Shianne was really charged full of energy that day excited because it was her birthday and also because she over heard Trenton telling Breanna that he was going to get her something special. She couldn't wait to see what it was. They finished training and went inside for cake, ice cream and the best! PRESENTS!! They sang happy birthday to her and then ate the cake and ice cream. After that was done she started opening up presents. Her mother gave her a heart shaped locket necklace that opens up and has her father and mother on one side and Trenton, Breanna and her on the other side. Her father gave her a Caster gun with a bag full of shells. "Use this only when needed and stay away from the number 9 shells," her father warned her. Next was Breanna's turn to give Shianne a present. Breanna gave Shianne a new backpack filled with medical supplies, gold fish crackers, water, and other misc stuff for when Shianne goes backpacking. Trenton's gift was last and by then Shianne could hardly wait. Trenton very carefully pulled out a box, and opened it up so Shianne could see what was in it. Shianne peered in it holding her breath. There were three jewels that sparkled when the light hit them. "Trenton.. what are they?" Shianne asked breathlessly. He just smiled watching her reaction to them. "Shianne, they are jewels that enable you to do several things. You can control the elements with practice, you can create an energy sword as well as create a energy shield around your body," Trenton explained to her. With that they started to clean up then they all went outside to watch Shianne experiment with her jewels. She placed one on each wrist and one on her neck and watched as they became one with her body. "Oh, that was too cool," she said excited ably. She started to concentrate trying to make them glow or something. "Don't worry sis, you're going to have to practice a whole lot before you will need to use them," Trenton reassured her. Shianne nodded to Trenton and continued to try to get them to glow or do something. Her mother and father went inside while Breanna and Trenton watched Shianne with her jewels. She finally curled up next to them as they all stared up into space wondering what the stars were trying to tell them when they blinked. As she fell asleep she listened to Breanna and Trenton telling her the stories of the stars although she knew they were making it up. She awoke on the day of her birthday in her bed although she was still dressed. She ran to take a shower getting ready quickly staring at her jewels momentarily before slipping on the necklace, grabbing her backpack and zipping down the stairs for breakfast. She had a lot of things to do before going out with her friends later. She was so full of energy that after breakfast she dragged Trenton and Breanna outside to train. Instead of training however they found themselves engaged in a game of hide and go seek with the neighbors. For some reason everyone was full of energy and there was a sense of calm happiness like they had in their early childhood. All of the parents gathered and watched as the kids young and old played so well together. It was like a neighborhood barbeque. In celebration of the events all the families quickly decided that they would have a neighborhood barbeque, so they all set out gathering things and making foods for lunch. After the lunch barbeque the kids continued to play games and expel energy. Around five o'clock Shianne headed into the house to take a shower since her friends were coming at six o'clock to get her. She waited downstairs for them quickly running to the car when they pulled up. "Bye mom, dad, Breanna, and Trenton! Be home around 10pm," Shianne called back to them as she jumped into the cherry red mustang. She looked back as they sped off to the mall to do some shopping and see a movie. Little did she know of the events that were unfolding even at that time, the time of joyous fun with friends would soon end, then the events would be known. Ch. 4 Once at the mall, she found that she really didn't want to shop for clothes. In fact, she had a strange urge to go look at weapons. So she dragged her friends over to the weapon shop that was next door to the mall. "Hurry up Shianne," Christian one of her friends whispered impatiently. "Chris, why on Earth are you whispering?" Lena asked him. Lena was Shianne's friend only because she had a crush on Christian. "I don't like it in here, it's too scary," Christian replied still whispering. "Will you two knock it off and let Shianne look!" Caleigh said louder than the others where talking. Of the three, Caleigh was the one Shianne could trust with her life, she would always be there for Shianne no matter what. Shianne just grinned while looking intently at the weapons. It fascinated her because of her background. Her father always had weapons but none of the kids were allowed to touch them. She wasn't old enough to buy her own yet but she loved to look. "Alright, we can go back to the mall," Shianne said happily. She already had a plan brewing in her head of how she could get some of the weapons. "About time, Shi" Christian whispered at the same time as Lena said it. "You sure, Shi?" Caleigh asked knowing that Shianne really wanted a new sword, more daggers, and a gun. "Yea, I'm sure. I'm sure you others want to go shopping as well. Right?" Shianne said walking to the door. "RIGHT!!!" They all said in unison. The four headed back to the mall and started to shop like crazy. Although Shianne was shopping and having fun, she kept feeling something bug her, down in her gut. And although she couldn't place it, she swore that they were being watched. "Movie time?" Shianne stated knowing it didn't have to be a question. They all agreed and went to see Blade 2. Afterwards they stopped at the local Maggie Moo's(Ice cream place) and had some ice cream. "Alright guys, thanks for taking me shopping and to the movies, but I better get home now, "Shianne said after finishing her ice cream. "Awww, okay Shi, I'll drop you off," Christian said with a mouthful of ice cream. They all got back into the car and one by one Christian dropped them off until Shianne was the only one left. Christian pulled up to the Shianne?s house glancing at it slightly. "Thanks Chris. You're one of my best friends, I don't know what I would do without you," Shianne mumbled. "Shi, I need to tell you something. Something that's been on my mind since I first met you. "What is it? Am I not really your friend? Are you just friends with me because you like Lena?" "No, no... heh, nothing like that Shi. I......-=long silence=- I..... " "You what?! What is it Chris? You can tell me, you know that right?" "Shianne I like you, more than a friend. In fact, I think I love you!? (Remember they are only 13) Shianne's mouth drops as Christian, after admitting he loves her leans in to kiss her softly on the lips. "Christian, I love you too." With a smile Shianne climbed out of the car heading to the house. She watched as Christian pulled away and drove down the street. She couldn't believe what had just happened. It was an end to a perfect evening she thought to herself. Upon reaching the house she noticed that something looked odd. She let herself in the front door and turned around to lock it. "MOM? DAD? TRENTON? BREANNA? Where are you all?" Shianne yelled into the darkened house. It was only a little after ten. They couldn't be asleep, not yet at least. Shianne headed into the kitchen to begin the search. Maybe they went out she thought to herself. She almost had herself convinced until she heard a noise. |
