Lavender Moonrise The sunset paints the sky Purples, pinks and grays The sun sinks down And my breath is stole away The stars peek through The painted sky's oblivion Shimmering like sunlight off water The full moon shows Clearly its borrowed light flows Over my gardens of lavender Soft purple cones on tiny flowers That sway in the cool breeze The crickets serenading them As I watch the colors fade And the sky turn from painted To dark blue to black Peaceful, in the world's uncertainty This moment is mine To keep with me Even if nothing makes sense.
