Stationary Waves in a Pipe Tube
- Open end is always a Antinode, close end is always a Node
- Node corresponds to greatest pressure change, Antinode corresponds to least pressure change
Objective
- standing wave is form when resonance occurs
- Find out the corrrect length of tube or wave frequency that resonance occurs
Open at one end, close at the other
Sound Wave is passed into the pipe through the open end.
The wave travels through the pipe and gets reflected at the close end.
The incident wave will then superimpose onto the reflected waves. And if the conditions are right, a stationary wave will be formed.
Both ends opened
Sound Wave is passed into the pipe through the both open ends.
The two waves travels through the pipe and superimpose on each other. And if the conditions are right, a stationary wave will be formed.
