Food Schedule Guide

Most mum are being advised to start giving solid food to baby anywhere between 4-6 months old. However babies vary in their readiness to accept new food. Never force your baby to eat. The following are some sample menu and schedule I used as a guide to feed my daughter at different stage.

Sample menu for a 4 months old baby
Time Kind of food
6.00am Milk
9.00am Baby's first rice cereal mixed with milk. Some water after meal
11.00am 3 tsp fruit juice
12.00pm Milk
3.00pm Milk
7.00pm Milk
10.00pm Milk

If baby likes the new food, increase the amount and variety slowly.

Sample menu for a 6 months old baby
Time Kind of food
6.00am Milk 200ml
9.00am 2 tsp scraped banana and some water
11.00pm Brown rice cereal with half soft boiled egg yolk
3.00pm Milk 200ml
6.00pm 3 tbsp mashed Potatoes mixed with 1 tbsp sieved Spinach and 1 tbsp mashed, boiled Fish. Some water after meal
10.00pm Milk 200ml

Sample menu for a 9 months old baby
Time Kind of food
7.00am Milk 200ml
9.00am Oat and fruit cereal mixed with milk
12.00am Half bowl of soft rice porridge mixed with 1 tbsp finely minced Liver and 2tbsp mashed, cook pumpkin. 2tsp papaya after meal
3.00pm Milk 200ml
5.00pm Fruit juice 90ml
7.00pm Half bowl of soft rice porridge mixed with 1 tbsp finely minced chicken and 2 tbsp finely chopped cooked Broccoli
10.00pm Milk 200ml

Sample menu for a 12 months old Toddler
Time Kind of food
7.00am Milk
9.00am 1 half boiled egg and half slice of bread thinly spread with Margarine and jam
11.00am 1 small banana
12.00pm 1 bowl thick porridge with minced meat steam with beancurd and chopped, cooked cauliflower
3.00pm Milk and 1 piece of teething biscuit
7.00pm 1 bowl of thick porridge mixed with 1 tbsp finely shredded chicken and 2 tbsp finely chopped cooked Spinach
9.00pm Milk 200ml

Sample menu for a 18 months old Toddler
Time Kind of food
7.00am Half bowl breakfast cereal mixed with 1 serve of Milk and a small banana
9.00am Plain biscuits-2 pieces
11.00am Chicken and Spinach pasta soup and 1 small piece of Honey dew cubed
3.00pm Milk and half plain bun
7.00pm Half bowl of clear chicken soup and half bowl of soft rice. Stir fried long beans with carrot and steamed fish
9.00pm Milk-1 serve
