Presidents Report

Old Business

Robert Wingo thanked all parents who continue to support the band in many and various ways.

Connie Holdridge reported that all figures are not in yet on the fruit and flower fundraiser, however, preliminary figures indicate that the students sold about the same as last year.  93 students sold fruit and 94 sold flowers.  Final figures will be available at Decembers meeting.

Upcoming parades are scheduled as follows: Lewes, Saturday, December 3rd at 5pm; Rehoboth, Monday, December 7th at 6pm, and Milton, Wednesday, December 7th at 7:30pm.  Two busses will be available to transport students for all 3 parades.  In addition, all students should have their uniforms professionally dry cleaned prior to the first parade.

Robert advised that Ken Schliefer will be chairperson for a new fundraiser which will involve turning in of old cell phones.  He was unable to attend tonights meeting but more information will follow this report.

Don Leavel and his son Cody have offered to co-chair a fundraiser with the Delaware Seaside Train Club in our school next winter, December 2006 January 2007.  Organizing this fundraiser normally takes approximately 8 months to pull all of it together.  Many related vendors will be present selling and offering their products in addition to working model train displays.  Any profits realized would go into the general fund.

Robert Wingo presented several ideas for additional fundraising.  He will be looking into a Nicola Pizza fundraiser for January.   A spaghetti dinner is being considered the weekend of February 25th, which coincides with the Musical performance being presented in the Little Theater.  A chicken bar-b-que might be held at the Savannah Road Pavillion in March, and a Spaghetti Dinner at the Lighthouse could happen in April.  Darrell Dukes suggested that we look into the local restaurants who are willing to sponsor a night to our organization.  Another suggestion for a possible fundraiser would be a Coke truckload sale, or spring flower bulbs.

Diane Albanese spoke of a dance fundraiser that was very successful for the Lacrosse Team.  They held it at the Rudder and tickets were only $10.00 allowing many to attend.  Suggestions were made that a silent auction could coincide with this.  Alan Bales volunteered to chair this fundraiser, and will make a report at the December meeting.

Beth Thomas volunteered to look into Corporate Sponsors who would be willing to make one-time contributions for the upcoming spring trip.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:20pm.  The next meeting will be Monday, December 12th at 7pm.

Minutes respectfully submitted by Joan Williamson.
