Music Boosters Minutes March 13, 2006 President Robert Wingo called the meeting to order at 7:04pm by welcoming all. A motion was made to accept the minutes, seconded, and approved. Treasurers Report Rama Peri stated that this month report does reflect the payments that have been made for the upcoming trip to Florida. At this time there is $13,513.67 in the Checking Account, $11,685.72 in the Money Market Account, and $2,492.51 in the Scholoraship Account. Student Accounts Connie Holdridge reported that all money should be in to cover the cost of each students trip at this time. However, we will not have a final cost per student for the transportation until after the March 17th Dance. At that time when a final cost is determined the phone tree will be inacted to notify all students of this final amount due. Estimation is approximately $130.00 - $150.00. Directors Report Spring Trip - Mr. Eli reported all students and chaperons will get a copy of the final itinerary this week. The permission slip is to be turned in by Monday the 20th. All prescription medications need to be turned in when boarding busses for safe keeping. We are down to 3 busses which will save us $7,800.00. This puts 41 people on a bus. Also, an additional $2,650.00 has been raised by Mr. Eli for community and district donations to go towards our transportation. The equipment trailer will be loaded on Monday March 27th starting at 3:00pm. All uniforms need to be in the band room by Monday, March 20th. It is hoped that all hats will be stored and travel in large boxes, however students should have all other items, shoes, gloves in their uniform bags. Please label all hats inside with instrument section and students name. A one time rehearsal is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday the 22nd from 6-7pm. Departure - On Wednesday, March 29th we will begin to load the busses at 4:30pm with departure scheduled for 5pm sharp. School officials have advised there will be no early dismissals that day for any band students. Students should be prepared and pack the night before. Arrival in Orlando is expected to be between 10 and 11am on Thursday the 30th. Casual attire is allowed for the entire trip; however, all female students must be fully clothed at all times. There will not be a �formal� dinner this year. The Friday night dinner will be casual; slacks, khakis and polo�s will be acceptable. Full uniforms with gloves will be worn for the parade performance on Saturday Return -Our departure from Orlando will be at 5pm on Sunday with return time in Lewes at approximately 12 noon on Monday. Spring Concerts - There is a concert scheduled for all Senior High County Band Students on April 11th in Dover for the �March for the Arts�. Busses will be leaving the high school at 9am and returning by 3pm. Parent chaperones who volunteered to ride up with the students are PJ Hopkins, Connie Holdridge and Joan Williamson. A Sunday afternoon concert has been scheduled for May 21st in the Little Theater. All freshman and Senior band students will perform. At present there will be no Rehoboth Bandstand performance. A Jazz concert has been scheduled for the Milton Town Park on May 31st. Choir -Although Gail Kelso was absent from this meeting she did submit a report via email to all attending officers. The Choir students New York Trip was a great success. 21 students as well as chaperones were able to attend and a whirlwind tour of the city ensued; including but not limited to, Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue, St. Patrick�s Cathedral, a backstage tour of Radio City Music Hall, Ground Zero, and dinner at Planet Hollywood with the lead male role in Mama Mia, just to list a few. Everyone had a great time. Presidents Report New Business Sponsors/Contributors - Robert reported that Ernest DeAngelo will do the boosters taxes for us this year. Mr. Hazzard who has been storing our equipment trailer did accept tickets to Friday�s dance as a �Thank You� from us. Mr. Chorman of Millman�s Appliances has donated a refrigerator and freezer to the Boosters organization. At present they will be stored at the Wingo�s. Soda and water sales for the County Band rehearsal in February totaled $90.00 profit. This money was put into the General Fund. Old Business The Stone Cold Creamery Fundraiser will be finished this week. A detailed report will be available at the April meeting. Cell Phones - Ken Schleiffer submitted a check for $400.00 to Rama Peri from the proceeds of recycled phones and printer cartridges. He reported that more have been shipped and further monies will be received. Dance Report - Alan Bales reported that all parts of the Dance for Friday night are coming together nicely. Approximately 150 � 200 advance tickets have been sold to date. Tickets will be available at the door. All expenses have been paid so that all money made from this point on will be profit. He and his committee are requesting dessert donations � these can be dropped off at the Bay Center after 6:30 pm. Desserts will be offered that night on a monetary donation basis. The last planning meeting will be at the Bale�s home at 7pm on Wednesday evening. Auction items received, approximately 20 so far, look very nice. The Cape Gazette donated $500.00 to the Boosters in addition to giving room for free advertising of the dance in both the Tuesday and Friday papers. A discussion did take place on whether families coming to watch the High School Jazz Band perform at 8pm could bring their children. It was decided that at the beginning it was stated this would be an adult only function and that even in this circumstance, children would not be allowed. All student performers will be made to leave as well at 9pm. Nicolla�s - Kim Roach reported the Nicobolis orders will be delivered on April 6th. The chicken Bar-b-que scheduled for March 18th has been cancelled due to the dance. New Business Spaghetti Dinner - The Lighthouse Restaurant has informed us they will be ready to help us with a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser in May. We hope to have at least 30 days notice of this fundraiser so that careful planning can be made. Additional fundraisers being looked into are apple and pineapple fruit sales in the fall. Storage - Marie Gardner will no longer be able to store picnic items at her home after this school year ends. Anyone able to store approximately 5-7 totes, please contact Robert Wingo. A Scholarship Committee and slate of Board Member nominations will be discussed at the April meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8pm. Our next meeting will be April 10th at 7pm.
