| June 13, 2005 Booster Minutes
President Darrell Dukes called meeting to order at 7:00pm. Minutes from the May meeting were on hand for review and are also posted on the website. A motion to accept minutes as presented was made, seconded and approved. Treasurers report was read. A motion to accept report was made, seconded and approved. Old Business It was noted that our efforts in attracting upcoming 9th grade parents to the June booster meeting are still in need of improvement. Letters were handed out at the spring Middle School concerts and a notice was placed in the local paper. It was noted that few 9th grade parents attended the meeting. A roster with phone numbers was not made available to Mr. Eli or Ms. Kelso so the phone tree could not be made prior to the meeting. As soon as this information is received, we will use this avenue to try to improve our contact with the incoming parents. Scholarship Winners On behalf of the Music Boosters, Darrell offered congratulations to Zack Scudlark for receiving the Richard J. Soukey Memorial Scholarship Award and to Jaime Bunting for receiving the CHHS Music Booster Scholarship Award at the spring concert. Each received a $250 scholarship. In accordance with scholarship procedures, a letter of congratulations will be sent and they will be informed of the procedure for redemption of the funds. State Fair Parking Chair, Carol Moore, reported on the progress of the sign up sheets. Some days are filled up while others have a few slots still available. She would like to meet with Day Captains and devise a method for soliciting workers while not besieging people with numerous calls for help. Carol is working to get the school districts certificate of liability insurance required by the State Fair personnel. Darrell pointed out some of the rules to park cars including absolutely no open-toed shoes are allowed due to the chemicals used to treat the parking lots. It was suggested that the phone numbers of the Day Captains should be posted on website. She will ask P.J. Hopkins, the new phone tree chair, for a list of phone numbers of the day captains and give them to Darrell for posting on the booster website. Fundraising - Joe Corbi Pizza forms have been handed out. Kathy Lindemer and Adrienne Hannah will chair this event. The forms are due to be turned in at the beginning of band camp. Car Show - Bob Wingo and Connie Holdridge reported they are waiting for the district to confirm September 11th as the date for the Car Show. Events Publicist Cindy Shea has volunteered to chair. Outgoing chair, Joan Williamson will share all of her contact information. Accountants The Booster organization is looking for someone within the group who could take care of filing the booster tax returns. This could either be an accountant, income tax specialist, or anyone with knowledge in this area. Senior Night Photos Mr. Eli has the photos taken of seniors and their families prior to the spring concert. If you havent received them, please contact him. The quality of the photos was excellent. A special thank you to Julie Wilson for organizing this twice in one year, photographer Dan Cook, and Diaz Bonneville, emcee, for making this event so memorable to the seniors and their families. New Business Incoming Officers The new officers for 2005-2006 are Bob Wingo, President, Diaz Bonneville, Vice President, Rama Peri, Treasurer, Connie Holdridge, Student Accounts Treasurer and Joan Williamson, Secretary. All have been very active in the organization and bring with them a lot of experience and enthusiasm. There will be a meeting next week between the outgoing and incoming officers to aid in a smooth transition to their respective tasks. Congratulations to the new officers and best of luck for a successful year. Next Years Trip Mr. Eli announced the destination of choice chosen by the students is Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The tentative departure date is March 29 returning on April 3. The Jazz Band, Marching Band, and a Choral group will perform. Since this is a non-adjudicated festival, the Concert bands will not perform. The approximate projected cost per person is $500 and may include admission to Universal Studios, Wet n-Wild Water Park, and Sea World. If a deposit of $25 per person is made by June 30, the festival will extend certain incentives. A motion to pay this deposit from the Boosters General Fund was made, seconded and approved. Summer Car Washes Anyone wishing to have a car wash is more than welcome. The Boosters have all the supplies necessary. The only thing needed is date, manpower and location. Some successful locations have been the pavilion in front of the Beacon Hotel in Lewes, St. Judes Catholic Church and Lowes. Rehoboth 4th of July Fireworks Fundraising Opportunity It was decided that we would not participate in this event because we would be required to go out in the crowds soliciting donations in an unsupervised fashion. Also, the maximum each participant could make would be $16.50. Mr. Eli and Darrell agreed this was a potentially unsafe method of fundraising and not monetarily beneficial. Next Page Click Here ! |
