CHHS Music Boosters
Minutes February 13, 2006
President Robert Wingo brought the meeting to order at 7:00 pm by welcoming all who came out in the slippery weather.  A motion was made to accept the minutes, seconded, and approved.

Treasurers Report
Rama Peri stated that this report does not include the most recent Nicoboli or Cold Stone Creamery Fundraisers.  It does however reflect some of the refunds to the Choir members who are not going on the Spring Trip.  In addition this report reflects the Rifle fund as a separate line item which was a necessary change simply because we have started to receive donations for this group.  At this time there is $12,868.54 in the Checking Account, $11,671.56 in the Money Market Account, and $2,492.51 in the Scholarship Account.

Student Accounts
Connie Holdridge reported that at present there is a total of $15,936.00 in the student accounts.  New student account lists displaying each childs totals have been given to Mr. Eli to be posted in the band room for review.  As of this meeting 123 students are attending the Spring Trip to Florida.  We have refunded $3,771.00 to the choir members who are unable to attend.  Kim Roach advised that of the $3,636.80 dollars worth of Nicobolis sold, $690.80 will go into student accounts.

Directors Report

County/State Bands
Mr. Eli reported there will be busses available to transport all band members to the next rehearsal and all band students and middle school students interested in attending to the County Band Performance to be held at Indian River High School on March 2nd.  All State Band was very awesome five 10th graders were included, something that has never happened before.  Both the Cape Gazette and the Coast Press did a wonderful job covering their performance.
Spring Trip Jor Lin is suppose to send an invoice for the busses we have contracted for our trip, but it has not been received to date.  Mr. Eli did check with 2 other bus companies to make sure that the estimated cost presented to us by Jor Lin could not be bettered, it cannot.  Temporarily we have committed $4000.00 for the transportation.
Incoming 9th Grade-Sometime next week Mr. Eli hopes to give the introductory talk to the 8th grade students at both middle schools about joining the High School band.  It is still undecided whether they will be bussed over to the High School for instruction from Mr. Eli or if a separate Music Director will be hired for the 9th Grade Academy.  Either way, the incoming 9th Grade will march.

Choir Ms. Gail Kelso reported that 9-choir members performed in All State Choir and all performances were wonderful.
Valentines Tomorrow choir members will be traveling throughout the High School singing requested valentine songs that have been approved by staff and teachers and were sold for a fee of $3.00 each, some will even be sent over the phone.  There was a very positive response to this fundraiser.
N.Y. Trip Two busses have been reserved for the trip to NY on Wednesday March 8th and returning on Thursday March 9th.  The cost is $272.00/std., $278.00/chaperone, if both busses are used, however, if only one bus is needed the cost will rise approximately $20.00 per student/chaperone.  The deadline for all reservations is Friday, February 17th.  Overnight accommodations are at the Sheraton Meadowlands.  Tentative itinerary is sightseeing at Rockefeller Center, window shopping, backstage tickets to Radio City Music Hall, Central Park, Planet Hollywood, and seeing the performance of Mamma Mia. On Sunday students will travel to the Statue of Liberty, the American Museum of Natural History and will be returning home at about 8:30pm.
Spring Concert A separate spring concert will take place this year allowing for more time to focus on solos and allowing for more songs. The concert will be on Monday, May 22nd at 7pm.

Presidents Report

Dance Report Mr. & Mrs. Bales reported that tremendous progress has been made towards the March 17th dance to be held at the Rusty Rudder.  The CHHS Jazz Band and The Giant Steps will start the evening off at 8pm and will perform until the Funsters take over at 9pm, the dance will continue till midnight.  A silent auction is planned to take place as well.  Many local businesses have already committed themselves to donations; however, further donations are still being solicited.  We anticipate that we will sell 500 tickets at $20/each, or $35/per couple, $150/for 10.  An organizational committee meeting was being held immediately following tonights booster meeting.

Old Business
Cell Phones Mr. Ken Schliefer reported that 138 Ink Jet Cartridges and 118 cell phones have been recycled and to date $378.00 has been raised.  Additional credit can be made if we add a link to the recycling company from our web site.  Both Ken Schliefer and Darrell Dukes will look into this.
Stone Cold Creamery Robert Wingo will be collecting all Stone Cold Creamery fundraisers.  Jamie Shea initiated this fundraiser. For each container of ice cream that was sold for $12, $2 will go into the General Fund.

New Business Mrs. Julie Wilson will again be chairing Senior Night.  All arrangements will be made for pictures and flowers on May 21st and for the Choir on May 22nd.
Instrument Transportation Darrell Dukes volunteered to transport all instruments to Florida for our Spring Trip.
Sponsors/Contributors It was pointed out that Mr. Sanford Hazzard has stored our Instrument Trailer for sometime.  Robert Wingo will investigate a proper way to show Mr. Hazzard our appreciation.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 pm.  Our next meeting will be March 13th at 7pm.
