CHHS Music Boosters Minutes December 11, 2006 The meeting was brought to order at 7:05 pm. A motion was made for the minutes to be accepted, seconded and approved. Treasurers Report A report was not available at this meeting. Student Accounts Connie Holdridge reported that there is a total of $35,403.19 in the Student Account Fund. This is after the $100.00 deposit on each students trip was withdrawn from their accounts. Posted in the band room is each students balance in addition to separate sheets showing the students who are committed to going on the spring trip. Next to their individual name is a �T� for trip. Connie let all parents attending know that the profit margin on the fruit and poinsettias is 45%, and although the final totals are not in, the students made approximately $12,000.00. She also wanted to publicly commend the Choir Students and their Director, Gail Kelso for arriving each day to unload the trailers. This was such a tremendous help. In addition thanks go out to Kim Wooding, Lynn Rogers, and Cristine Palmer for co-chairing this profitable fundraiser. Also, thanks to Rama Peri and Connie Holdridge. Directors Report Barry Eli reported that all three parades were a success and the kids are to be congratulated for withstanding yet another cold season. Thanks also to the Dukes family for faithfully pulling the instrument trailer. All State Band � Barry reported that we are the only Sussex County High School that had any qualifiers for All State Band. Those who made it are, Philip Kunzig, Jessica Shifflet, and Cody Leavel. Cody Leavel also made All State Jazz Band. Renha Scudlark made All State Junior Band. Congratulations to all of these great musicians. All Stand Band performance will be at Ceasar Rodney H.S. on February 10th. All State Jazz will be on January 27th. County Band � Auditions will be on January 8th at Indian River High School. Mr. Eli will be offering private one-on-one help with any students working on their recitals. Spring Trip-We are still waiting for the Chaperones to complete and turn in the Traveling Contract. There are in all with chaperones, 121 traveling in May to Boston. The freshman and senior band will be performing together. The Choir will not be traveling to Boston. They will be pursuing their own trip. Winter Concert-The Choir will perform at 6:30 pm on Monday, December 18th, followed by the band at 8 pm. Directors Status-Mr. Eli reported he has advised the Board that he will stay on to teach for one more year. He hopes that in that years time a recruiting process will be started so that their would be time to train a new Director. He also hopes and plans to sit down with Staff and Administration to look into how we can better incorporate the freshman band into the Marching program and into inclusive practices. Choir Director-Gail Kelso was unable to attend but did advise the Board thru an email of the choir programs accomplishments and news. The Choir had 13 students make All State Choir; they are, Meaghan Gonzalea, Corey Cellurale, Lauren O�Neil, Kristen Dukes, Brittany Morris, Jenn Arnold, Nicole Nadig, Tiffany Pugh, John Thomas, Wayne Runner, Montess Brooks, Garrett Williams, and Kameron Schleifer. In addition, Kameron was selected for the All Eastern Choir and will sing at the National Music Conference in March. Presidents Report Old Business � Robert Wingo stated the kids are to be congratulated, especially for the Lewes and Rehoboth parades, they waited quite a while in very cold and windy conditions. In addition he thanked all those folks who participated in making the fruit and poinsettias sale a success. He also stated that for all future fundraisers a sign will be posted on school grounds advertising the event and making it available for the general public to participate through the posted web site address. Fundraiser Opportunities �Robert is pursuing a chance for a Fresh Strawberry sale in April through a North Carolina Firm. Nicola�s Pizza � Carol Moore will take over the chair of this fundraiser that will kick off mid January. Thanks again Carol. Spaghetti Dinner � Krista Scudlark will follow up with the Lighthouse Restaurant on a late winter spaghetti dinner. Jackets �Lisa Bales has extensively researched with three different companies about ordering embroidered Jackets for Band Students. Many styles and colors were looked at and one style was chosen to be the most economical and the most popular. It was also decided that Mr. Eli will approach the students with the price difference on whether or not they choose to have a small Vikings Band logo on the front breast pocket, or a much larger version the back. He will advise us at the next meeting on the student�s response. Thanks to Lisa for a thorough and professional presentation. Clothing Sales � Kim Warren is chair person of this committee, anyone interested in purchasing clothing as Christmas Gifts or anytime may contact heart 945-3385 Trailer Repairs � Darrell Dukes wanted to thank Phillips Marine for so many things they have done to help the band. All repairs and parts for the instrument trailer have been supplied at cost, in addition to batteries for the public PA system. A formal thank you will be sent to the Newspaper. He also submitted a bill to the board president with the items that do need to be paid. It was noted that Don and Coty Leavel and Darrell Dukes spent several days repairing the leaking roof on the trailer. Thank You. The meeting was adjourned at 8:17pm.
