Minutes August 8, 2005 President Robert Wingo brought the meeting to order at 7:07 pm. Minutes from the July meeting were on hand and reviewed. Motion for the minutes to be accepted as presented was made, seconded and approved. Rama Peri read the treasurer�s report. A motion to accept the report was made seconded and approved. A student account report was not submitted as nothing has changed. Old Business Barry Eli reported that he will be submitting a letter to the School Board for their approval for the Music program to make their spring trip. He also reported that Coach Glenn has given approval for the band to perform their field show on the football field the final night of band camp. The picnic is to be held as always in the back parking lot. The performance for the picnic is to start at 7pm promptly with the Bar-b-que following. An invitation letter to all parents explaining the picnic and what their contributions will be is to be sent home Monday the 15th by Mr. Eli. Julie Wilson suggested that we welcome all new parents at each meeting and make more of an effort to make them feel welcome. Diane Tylecki volunteered to staff the committee sign up table at the picnic and to personally welcome families. The welcome letter sent home in the spring that explains our organization and the time and place of our meetings will also be on hand to give to all parents. P.J. Hopkins as chair of the phone tree will have her committee contact all music parents starting Monday the 15th to make them aware of the picnic and performance. Diane Tylecki will take care of getting all rolls donated. Robert will take care of all meat and drink donations and Marilyn Davis will take care of getting the proper amount of tables. Frank Buck will be one of the cooks along with Robert. P.J. Hopkins will man the clothing table. New Business There will be a pizza party the night of the 17th to reward the students for working hard. Marilyn Davis will be contacting community pizza parlors in hopes of obtaining 40 pizzas. Drinks are not provided. Marie Gardner and Julie Wilson volunteered to pick up and distribute the pizzas to all. Robert congratulated Carol Moore on a wonderful job at the State Fair. He also thanked the Day Captains and Carlyn Bailey. Carol Moore was not in attendance to give a report. Carlyn Bailey also commented on how well organized this years parking was due to all of the �before hand� preparation, all instructions were very clear. In addition, the kids loved the snacks. Barry Eli reported that 95 musicians not including freshman will be marching this fall. All will be fitted with uniforms during Band Camp. Barry Eli made a request that the Boosters organization start to pay for the percussion assistant. In the past, it has come out of the Bands school budget, but other school booster organizations pay for theirs. Our assistant, Anthony Baray should receive $1500.00 this year. A motion was made to accept this budget item into the boosters account, seconded and approved. Connie Holdridge reported that there is nothing new on the upcoming Car Show scheduled for September 10th. She has only received a few inquiry phone calls to date. Cindy Shea did get a publicity release to both local newspapers promoting the event. Presently, we do not have anyone chairing a car wash at the show. Joe Corbi Pizza orders are being collected by Kathy Lindemer and Adrienne Hanna during the first night of band camp � tonight. Delivery and distribution will take place Wednesday nite the 17th. Diane Tylecki volunteered to take over the advertising for the instrument trailer. Robert will meet with her to pass on all records and instructions. Robert mentioned that as a group we need to be looking into more fundraising ideas. P.J. Hopkins did state that although phone calls were not made for this meeting, in the future each family would be called by the phone tree to remind them of our monthly meetings or any special event. The phone tree now consists of 7 volunteers. All future Booster meetings will be in the Little Theater when possible. Our next meeting will be September 12th at 7pm in the Little Theater.
