Minutes April 16, 2007
The meeting was brought to order at 7:10.  A motion was made to have the minutes accepted, seconded, and approved.

Treasurers Report
Rama Peri reported that there was $32,979.37 in the Student Accounts, $16,983.09 in the General Fund, $4.73 in the Rifle Fund, and $836.86 in the Scholarship Fund.  The checking account has $38,147.42, the money market has $11,819.77 and the Scholarship has $836.86.

Budget Considerations-Rama presented a proposed budget but advised that this is not the best time to do this.  The ideal time to review the budget and plan for the next year is at the end of each year, with both the outgoing board members and the new incoming board members present. This would allow for all to see where all monies went, what fundraisers worked or didnt and where more monies are needed. As an example, she pointed out that more needs to be done to put funds into the General Account if we plan to continue the Senior Scholarships of $25.00 per senior for each year they are in the Music program.  She advised that this year because we did not have a car show or spaghetti dinner our General Fund did not gain as much as in past years.

Student Accounts Connie Holdridge reported that the monies that were reported in the Treasurers Report do reflect the money that has been withdrawn from each students account for the final payment.  If the students account reflects a figure in parenthesis, i.e. (1.00) that is what the student still owes, all other students are either paid in full or in fact have a balance to carry into next year.

Directors Report Mr. Eli reported on the news of the upcoming spring trip to Boston. All Chaperones should have a copy of the itinerary.  Room lists are set and all students have seen them.  The original itinerary is wrong, the band will be boarding the busses at 8am and pulling out at 9am, with arrival in Boston expected at 4pm on Thursday. Sunday they hope to return at approximately 8pm.  The stop at Harvard has been cancelled.  Mr. Eli also advised that although 3 students have waited till now to drop from the trip the band will still be charged for those 3 students and therefore, those students must pay for their trips.  A practice for all grades 9 12 that are traveling on the trip will be help on Monday, April 23, 2007, from 6 to 7:30 pm.
Performances The Jazz Band will be performing during school/band time for the Ground Breaking Ceremonies on Thursday April 19th.  On Friday the 20th they will travel up to the University of Delaware and will perform with other bands, including The Jazz Ambassadors from the Army and finishing their day with a performance by the University of Delaware Jazz Band.  On Saturday the 21st they are performing for the Visual and Performing Arts Presentation taking place at the high school.  Their performance will be from 12:30 1:00 pm, however the festivities will take up most of the afternoon.  Admission is $2.00.  On Thursday, March 26th, they will travel to Dover for the March for the Arts annual performance.  They will perform at 12 noon.  The Spring Jazz Concert will be May 14th at 7pm in the Little Theater, and the Spring Band Concert will perform on May 21st in the Little Theater at 7pm.

Choir A report was not available at this time.

Presidents Report Robert thanked the Dukes for transporting the equipment to Boston.  He also thanked Kim Warren for all the clothing sales she has taken care of at Applebees.  He also thanked Lisa Thorp for all the support, organizing and work she put into the Applebees breakfast fundraiser.  A total of $480.00 was made from this breakfast fundraiser.  Thank you.

Strawberry Fundraiser Connie Holdridge advised that the strawberries will arrive on May 15th and thata total of 800 pounds of strawberries were sold.  Additional cartons will be ordered for those last minute purchasers.  In all $ll53.00 profit was made.  The additional sales will be used to offset the cost of transporting the instruments in the rented truck to Boston. The rental will cost $657.39.

Nomination Committee A no report available at this time.

Scholarship Committee All entries will be picked up on May 8th from the guidance office.

Chicken Bar-B-Q Robert will follow up on filling out the form for using the Gazebo thru the City of Lewes.  When that date is selected, Christa Scudlark advised she will coordinate a car wash at the same time, same place.

New Business Barry Eli advised that we have been invited to travel to Lewis England next year.  The School Board and School Administration have already given their support for this trip. If we were to travel in the same way the Lewis England students traveled to us, i.e.: housed with families etc., costs could be kept down and we could actually plan to stay for a week or more.  Tentatively the trip could be taken in April of 2008.    Further information will be available as we get closer to the new school year.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10pm.  The next meeting will be at 7pm on Tuesday May 8th.  Minutes respectfully submitted by Joan Williamson
