The Gelding:
Barcode CH has the great honor of being the first Zorse in HF. What a Zorse to set the standard; despite his wild heritage, he is a tractable animal with a pleasing disposition. There are times he can be stubborn, and the conventional training techniques used on horses sometimes don't work with him, but he is worth the challenge. As with any hybrid, he can be unpredictable, but because he has been raised on the ranch from birth. Having been raised with horses, he has an easier time fitting in than those raised with zebras and such. In addition to retaining a more horse-like disposition, thankfully, Barcode CH also shows a bit of his Arabian heritage. He has long, straight legs, a smaller, more proportioned head, and thick mane and tail. Not to mention his lovely unique stripes superimposed over his bay coloring.

Horses have sixty-four chromosomes in their DNA while Zebras have only fourty-four, so settling Marsellina's pregnancy was a feat in itself. We have no idea how many chromosomes Barcode CH has; he will always be surprising us with many mysteries and new experiences. His sire, Spots 'N Stripes Zandar, is one of outstanding quality and conformation; he is a perfect version of what a Grant's Zebra stallion should look like. His dam, *Marsellina Nurey CH, is a National Reserve Champion and competes successfully in western disciplines. She was selected to be the dam of HF's first Zorse due to her great athleticsm coupled with refined and exotic beauty. HOF Kahara was chosen as the surrogate mare to carry and raise Barcode because of her incredibly docile and friendly personality. One very obvious personality trait that Barcode displays is extreme curiousity; he is always poking his nose in anything he finds interesting. The other day he stuck his head through the open door of the hay truck and knocked the gearshift, but we caught the truck before it had a chance to get far.
