Faculty of Agricultural Economics & Rural Development (FAERD) was founded under sub-decree dated on June 27, 2001. It has 3 departments, Department of Agricultural Economics, Department of Agribusiness and Department of Rural Development. FAERD is the higher education in service which is the mission of Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Phnome Penh, Cambodia. In thier mutual efforts to accomplish this mission, students, faculty, departments, staffs, Full-time Lecturers, and administrators acknowledge the following interrelated goals;

To enourage and facilitate the intellectural and ethic development of individuals and society.
- To advance, interrelate, and disseminate state-of-art knowledge in the high technology, sustainable agriculture, socio-economic researching, agricultural price analysis, and agricultural marketing in Cambodia.
- To foster learning among all members to serve society as a professional and intellectural resource in Cambodia.
- To offer quality education and traning programs to students and staffs in rural and agricultural fields with high academic standards, morality and creativity in line with national  development needs.
- To conduct rural and agricultural reasearch themes in close cooperation with local and international reasearch institutes and industrial companies.
- To create an information center for disseminating agricultural sciences and technology to farm communities.

The purpose of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics & Rural Development are conducting research projects in agricultural economics, management and technology in order to promote farmer's income, in cooperation with domestic & foreign research institutes, regional & industrial organization, rural development institute, non government organizations, and international organizations. This faculty was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry & fisheries and the Ministry of Education, Youth & sport as a core research center to take the lead in the astablishment of regional specific agricultural developemnt on rice cultivation & other agricultural products in Cambodia. The Journal of Socio-economic researching, Rural Development researching, Agricultural Science and Technology Review is also supported by this Faculty's project. Research seminars and symposia on related topics have been help every year. The Faculty will continue to publish the journal of Agricultural Science and Technology Review, and focus its research activities on developing agricultural science, technology and resources. The Faculty will also maintain close cooperation with regional communities and thus contribute to the improvement of regional specific agricultural products. Moreover, it is to enable students to think like an economist in solving the problems related to the agricultural sector. Thinking an economist involves using chains of deductive reasoning to help understand phenomena as well as problem-solving and creative skills in agricultural sector. Our goals are to increase understanding of economic behavior and improve a student's ability to understand and predict agricultural economic phenomena.
