Christmas Wish

If I could have a Christmas wish. Yes, if such things could be.
There are somethings that I'd wish for that are just for you from me.

I know I'd wish when you wake up the Christmas day to start
You'd find yourself a-smiling from a peace within your heart.

And I would wish your mind at peace - as you think about next year.
And freedom from all worries and freedom from all fear.

And I would wish you joyfulness and strength to reach your goal
And deep, abiding peacefulness, And wellness in your soul.

I know I may not get my wish but if I could - it's true -
A Deep, Abiding, Heart-felt Peace
Is my Christmas Wish for you.

THE SECRET OF CHRISTMAS

It's not the glow you feel when snow appears,
It's not the Christmas card you've sent for years,
Not the joyful sound when sleigh bells ring,
Or the merry songs children sing.

The little things you do on Christmas Day
Will not bring back the friend you've turned away.
So may I suggest the secret of Christmas
Is not the things you do at Christmas time,
But the little things you do all year through.

Christmas Recipes 4 You!

Jingle Balls

This recipe makes about 120 chocolate covered jingle balls.
We usually make a batch this large to give as gifts to all our friends.
If you want to make these just for yourself, cut this recipe in half or thirds.
Kids love this project - it's really messy!
You will need:
3 cups creamy peanut butter
7-8 cups powdered sugar
2 cups softened butter
4 teaspoon vanilla
3 packages (12 ounce) chocolate chips
6 tablespoons parawax

Mix peanut butter, sugar, butter and vanilla together in a bowl.
Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Melt chocolate chips w/ parawax over low heat.
Make peanut butter mixture into balls about the size of a quarter.
(It's best to work with small amounts of the mixture,
keeping the rest refrigerated until you're ready to form and dip.
The mixture gets gooey and messy very quickly.)
Using toothpicks or small forks, dip the balls into the chocolate.
Set on wax paper and refrigerate.

Santa's Whiskers

1 cup butter flavored or Golden Crisco (shortening)-- softened
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup red candied cherries -- finely chopped
1/2 cup pecans -- finely chopped
3/4 cup flaked coconut

In mixing bowl cream together Crisco and sugar; blend in milk and vanilla.
Stir in flour, cherries and pecans. Form dough into two 8-inch rolls.
Roll in flaked coconut to coat outside.
Wrap in waxed paper or clear plastic wrap; chill thoroughly.
Cut into 1/4-inch slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375F until edges are golden, about 12 minutes.
Makes about 60 cookies.
