Sticky Date Pudding
1 1 / 2 cups all purpose flour 
1 packet baking poser 
1 1 / 4 cups pitted dry dates, chopped 
3 / 4 cups sugar 
2 eggs 
1 teaspoon vanilla essence or 1 packet of powder
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 cup water
60 gm butter, softened 

Caramel Sauce :
1 / 2 cup brown sugar
300 ml cream
125 gm butter

Method :
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with vanilla after each addition.
Combine dates and water in a saucepan. Bring to the boil. Stir in the soda.
Remove from heat and continue stirring until dissolved.
Fold flour into the creamed mixture, followed by the date mixture.
Pour into a greased and floured 6 cup baking try.
Bake in a moderately slow preheated oven [ 160C] for 45 to 50 minutes or until
      a wooden skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean and dry.
Serve warm with cram, ice cream and caramel sauce.

Caramel Sauce :
Melt butter and sugar in a pan. Stir in cream.
Bring to the boil while stirring.
Serve warm or cold
