1 1 / 2 cup shortening
1 / 2 teaspoon soda
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 / 3 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3 eggs
4 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Cream shortening, add sugar and beat well.
Add eggs one at a time and beat again.
Sift remaining dry ingredients and add to first mixture.
This dough may be divided, adding melted chocolate and vanilla to one portion,
grated coconut to another portion, nuts an raisins or chopped dates to another portion.
These portions may be made into sausage like rolls, wrapped in waxed paper and placed
in the refrigerator overnight or until wanted.
Before baking, slice very thin.
Bake in a hot oven on a baking sheet
