Dad / George Heyne

This is my dad and his winning 693 lb pumpkin in 1998. Not quite the 700 lbs he was hoping for, but big enough to place at the Pumpkin Weigh-Offs!

The 1999 season pumpkin weigh off was held on September 25th in Austin, Minnesota. The two pumpkins that he and my mother entered placed second and third. Unfortunately, a family can enter only two pumkins, otherwise their third pumpkin would have placed well.

The three largest pumpkin weights from this year's were:

740 Wray 98 -- 511.5 pounds
858 Baird 97 -- 474.5 pounds
452 Heyne 97 -- 448.5 pounds

Another of my father's pasttimes (as well as almost every members of his immediate family) is keeping an eye on K-State...no sunny weather buffs here!&nbps; Check out current events in the The K-State Collegian).

Due Once again, my dad is out to get an 800 punder. &nbps; He was just working on planting the seeds the last week in April.&nbps; Hot/drought weather seems likely this year, so keep your eyes to the sky and hope for rain (at the appropriate stages of the plants life, of course)!

GooooOOO DAD!
