or subjective interpretation. This extensive work is a must read.

 

Principles of Wicca

By far the best of the introductory Wicca books. Published in 1998,
it contains a thorough, up-to-date description of Traditional Wiccan
practices and beliefs.

 

The Spiral Dance

By Starhawk (Miriam Simos)

This book, more than any other, has shaped the lives and practices
of the greatest number of modern practitioners of Witchcraft. It is a clear
and concise presentation of the philosophy, rules, methods and skills
associated with rational, productive, contributory and responsible living.

 

In the Circle and The Sacred Round

By Elen Hawke

These 2 books are so much more than basic witchcraft 101 books. They
are beautifully written with loads of personal accounts of the ways which
Elen has celebrated the festivals, rituals galore and also corresondences.

`The Sacred Round` has chapters on the elements, the chakras, with
excercises on chakra cleansing and balancing, and meditation.

 

Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner

By Scott Cunningham

This is a gentle introduction to the lighter side of Wicca. Cunningham has
a very loose, elemental way of doing wiccan-style magic which will appeal
a lot to beginners, and he presents his material in a clear and fluid fashion.

A Practical Guide to Past Life Regression

By Florence Wagner McClain

This is exactly what it says it is. In the beginning, McClain
discusses ideas about reincarnation. The body of the book is
a set of regressions, and a series of case histories. If you
intend to try this, this is an excellent guidebook.

 

The Master Book of Herbalism

By Paul Beyerl

This is one that is on the bookshelf of just about every serious
magical and/or medicinal herbalist. This excellent reference book
covers them both well.

 

Real Magic

By Issac Bonewits

This is a casually scholarly examination of the "art and science of
wonderworking." Bonewits begins by examining the "Laws of Magic,"
then delves into the science behind magic. Highly recommended.

 

The Spell of Making

By Blacksun

This is an excellent primer on the elements of building effective
rituals. This is a must read.

 

Spells and How They Work

By Janet and Stewart Farrar

Discusses various types of magical workings and the theory behind them.
They include a lot of historical folk magic and historical spellwork.

 

Witchcraft Today

By Gerald Gardner

This is the book that started the modern Wicca movement.
Published by Gardner in 1954, this book is a seminal historical
document for Wiccans. Here he presents the basic practices and
key liturgy for Wiccans, including the Descent of the Goddess.

 

The Witches Tarot: The Witches Qabala Part 2

By Ellen Cannon Reed

This is actually not a book about tarot at all, except incidentally. Instead,
Reed provides the characteristics of each of the paths of the qabala, its
correspondences, and meditations appropriate for pathworking. She ties
the paths to the major arcana, and the last part of the book goes into
tarot divination.

A great book. Half of the book is an alphabetical listing of herbs
and their common uses, the other half is a listing of Ailments
and their Herbal Remedies.
