Welcome to my homepage. Let me introduce myself. My name is Cheyenne I am a 49 years old married to a wonder full husband Poppa smurf. We have 2 wonderful children my daughter Crystal 20 and my son John 23. We live in a small town along the St. Lawrence River in Ontario, Canada. It is a very friendly little town. We are a family that has survived Cancer.
In 1985 I was diaganosed with cancer. A rare form called Melanoma. At first I did not want to believe that it had happened to me, but in such short time i had to face the truth. I was sent to Toronto with my mom to the Princess Margaret Hospital for Testing. It took hours of waiting and testing. The results from the tests where not good. In fact I had cancer in my right eye a melanoma tumor which would eventually take my sight from me. On the day I was to leave my children where dropped off my 3 yr old son and 5 month old daughter at my parents home. I was on my way back to toronto for treatment. My husband was back on the road. And I was with strangers.
The chemo treatments and the radiation began twice a day taking its toll. With headaches and nausea, vomitting and being tired it was finally over. I had to have the surgery to remove the rest of the cancer. It took most of my sight leaving me with no periphial vision on my left side and loss of balance and coordination. It was hard at first bumping into things I could not hold my daughter or son. But with the help of family and friends we SURVIVED.
