paradise for cyclists

You arrive at Schiphol in the morning, reattach your pedals, and you're off, heading north to Amsterdam, a cosmopolitan city with a diverse mix of cultures.

Enter through one of the old gates and join the throng of cyclists. They're on their way to work or school, but you are on the first day of an adventure on two wheels.

Amsterdam

On the road

Next morning it's bright and early on the bike to catch the ferry across the Ijsselmeer.

On board you have a morning coffee and a snack, while you look forward with anticipation to the day's cycle.

Through the city and north again, heading to Enkhuizen, at the edge of the large Ijselmeer lake.

You book into your comfortable hotel and then head out to walk around the town and admire the boats in the harbour. Visit the museum of old Dutch houses and then head off to a restaurant for a well earned meal and maybe an Amstel beer or two.

Looking back to Enkhuizen

Lemmer
Off the ferry and in the sunshine, and with a tailwind it's off towards Lemmer. A fairly easy cycle brings you to this lovely town and you sit at the canal side and watch as a variety of pleasure craft and tall ships make their way through the lock.
