David's V8 S-10 Blazer

I just bought a new 2000 S-10 Xtreme pickup so I could put the blazer in the garage for extensive modification. I will have pics up soon!

Here's how my truck started life. It was '91 S-10 Blazer with a 4.3L engine. I bought it used with 5?,000 miles on it.

This is what I had before me and my dad decided to go all out. I had put slotted tailite covers, rims, and rainguards, but the S10 didn't stay this way for long...

Here is My Truck as it is now. About the only thing still on it from my original modifications is the rims! Other Pics will be available soon.

Ran a 15.485 @ 88.52 mph when I made my initial run on 6/16/99.

We recorded a 15.182 @ 89.04 mph on 6/30/99 after we put $900 worth of transmission work into my baby along with the tach.

After we replaced my stock 4.3L air cleaner with a 14 X 2 1/4 K&N filter charger we got a 15.031 @ 91.51 mph on 7/17/99.

Ran my best time after the completed exhaust work. Replaced my $20 turbo mufflers with some flow masters. Got 14.701 @ 91.92 mph.

New 1/4 mile times will be posted as they come in. This is the most recent time slip I have as of now.

Running Conditions:
Thanks to the expert engineering of my dad ( the greatest mechanic who ever lived!!! ) I have still maintained a pretty good ride with all of the luxuries that came with my truck. I still have A/C, heater, and cruise control. The ride has been affected slightly by the lowering but mainly in the front. Even though the back is lower... it's done with new leaf springs, and the tires are a little larger than stock... so it doesn't effect it that much. The front is a different story. With the lowering coils you get stiffer coils, plus the weight difference between the two engines, not to mention the 50 series tires.

Here's a newer Pic!
I've changed a few things up lately.

I went to a 60 series tire in the front to take out some of the space between the tire and the fenderwell. I could have done this by lowering it but with a little more tire it softened up the ride a bit. I also installed a set of yellow lakewood traction bars, these helped a great deal. I have now realized that painting my airdam was a bad idea. It's not meant to ber painted and paint won't stick to it at all. Bought me a new one with the square lights that are molded in. Haven't installed this one yet but I'm definitely going to leave it black. With my new job as a runner I am going stop light to stop light alot with my truck during the day. I was having some problems with it overheating so I put in two cans of 40 below ( a cooling system additive ). It worked wonders, but I am still having some problems on really hot days, and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Future Plans

I have in my possession a pair of Trick Flow 23 degree aluinum heads. These come with 2.02", 1.60" stainless steel valves, 195cc runners, 64cc combustion chamber and guideplates. I also have a Magnum 289 camshaft and an Edlebrok aluminum tarantula manifold. With the help of more money and my dad's expert rigging ability we are hoping to completely rebuild the engine with a carborated setup instead of fuel injected. I have yet to purchase the rebuild kit with all new gaskets and the carborater. Also, I need a lock-up stall converter (probably about a 3,000) and I am most likely going with a ratchet shifter on the floor, ten inch rims in the back, and since the new manifold and carborator are going to push the already small aircleaner through the hood, I'm probably going to just get a larger element, cut my hood, and stick a hood scoop over it. About the only thing were worried about is what to do about the computer and the wiring harness. I'm sure we still need some of the computer to run the speedometer, transmission lock up, and most of the electrical systems... We're just not sure which one's are wich. If anyone could be of assistance, please e-mail me!

I've been searching the globe for ideas for my S-10. Along the way I've found some very nice machines. I decided I would put a few on my page, but if there was no web page present, I didn't think you where worthy enough. No hard feelings, just get you a page, there FREE!!
