| Butchie was on the waiting list for a liver transplant. He suffered severe internal bleeding last night and was unable to recover. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His daughter, Melissa "Missy" Hussman was there with him. He was born on April 4, 1948 in South Gate, CA to his loving parents Ralph and Marie Hussman. They died in 1986 and 1988. In their life they raised five children. Bonnie is the last surviving child Throughout all of his life Butchie was a great outdoorsman, a true wilderness man. It was not uncommon for him to hike into the mountains and there stay for days hunting and fishing and exploring the open land he loved and respected. Not only did he have a natural love for wilderness, but the sea also called his soul. For many years he was a professional fisherman, working on the large fishing boats out of San Pedro. For months on end they would fish the open waters all over the world. He brought back tons of fish and many tales of his adventures. Butchie was an old-fashion story teller. His outback adventures and sailing of the seven seas gave rise to many a yarn-both of his world and beyond. He often told of his two UFO sightings. His travels and adventures over the world let him see things few humans get a chance to witness. He was happy to share these tales with all who'd listen. And in true story-teller tradition, with a wink and a smile, the listener could count on a little stretching the tale the next time it was told In 1968 he joined the Army. He was an expert marksman with a rifle and was being considered for the US Olympic shooting team. But he decided otherwise and requested duty in Vietnam. Butchie could disassemble and reassemble an engine about as well as he could shoot. And with this mechanical ability he served his country and was honorably dischargedHis pastimes were hunting, fishing, exploring and reading. He was a voracious reader. He read everything he could get his hands on. In the classic sense he was truly a self-taught man; a man that will be truly missed. He is survived by his only child, his daughter Melissa, whom he adored. He's two step son's ronnie and frankie and his wife susie God bless you Butch. |
