Chevening Amblers vs Ide Hill: 21st September 2003 Ide Hill: 171-8 (45) Chevening: 129 all out (33) Chevening lost by 42 runs Match Report: Chevening's last match of the season was played in perfect weather, in stark contrast to the memorable corresponding fixture two years ago. Paul Kent, captaining the side, used nine different bowlers, including Harry Evans, who took a wicket on debut, and 11-year-old George Fisk, who bowled for the club for the first time. In total, Chevening bowled a mammoth 45 overs at Ide Hill, the best figures being those of David Usher, who ended up with 2-9 from 5 overs. In reply, Chevening could unfortunately only muster 129 as they had a slightly weakened batting line-up - Paul Blake top-scored with 25 and Paul Kent had made 23 before his infamous running between the wickets got the better of him (with an 11-yr-old at the other end) and Johnny Martin struck an explosive 18 which turned out to be too little too late. The match was played in a good spirit, fitting for the last match of the season, and we can now all look forward to winter nets, starting in January, and the 2004 season. Before that there is Chris Barrett's Race Night and the Dinner & Dance to look forward to. Chevening's end-of season stats are as follows: Played 37 Won 14 Drawn 8 Lost 13 Tied 1 N/R 1
