Welcome To My Sermon Page
The sermon materials found here at present, and that which will
be added has been preached by me through many years of service. I do not claim
originality, this material has come from many, many sources.
Many years ago, I had the privilege to lead singing during a
gospel meeting in which Brother G.K. Wallace was doing the speaking. I enjoyed
the time spent talking with him. He advised me, if I was going to preach, to
purchase N.B. Hardeman Tabernacle Sermon books. "and learn to preach
right," as he stated it. He also recommended that I purchase all the
debate books that I could find, in order to learn the issues confronting the
church. He suggested I purchase books by Foy E. Wallace Jr. Guy N. Woods,
Franklin Camp, and added, "anything you can find written by me." This
was good advise, and I followed it. I cut my teeth, as did many young
preachers, on the N.B. Hardeman Tabernacle Sermons. Today they remain
un-surpassed in providing sermons and lessons to those who aspire to preach.
In 1998, I had the wonderful privilege of meeting sister
Joanne Bradshaw. She is a member of the Chestnut Dr. church of Christ, where my
brother was serving as an elder at that time. Sister Bradshaw is the grand
daughter of N.B. Hardeman. She invited my wife and myself, along with my
brother and his wife, to her home where we enjoyed a wonderful meal together.
After the meal, she took us into a room, where she had all the personal
belongings of her grand father, N.B. Hardeman. She showed me many pictures of
Brother Hardeman and his many experiences. He was a great horseman, often
riding and showing his horses. She showed me his hand written notes on the
debates he had with Bogard and others, several notebooks of sermons outlines,
hand written, which I recognized immediately as the Tabernacle Sermons, and
other documents. She gave me a keep sake, a golden pencil sharpener, shaped as
a single edged razor. She told me she remembered as a little child, this had
always set upon his desk. I treasure the visit and the pencil sharpener very
much. It sits upon my desk now.
All those mentioned here, and others as well, have greatly
influenced what I am, and what I have preached through the years. "These being dead, yet speaketh." To these, I affectingly dedicate my sermons page. May their words go forth through others to the glory of our Heavenly Father. Please feel free to use any materials found here, as I have freely taken from others. For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith. Romans 1:16-17
