ALLERGY TESTING

The method of allergy testing used at the Chestnut Clinic, is Kinesiology; a form of muscle testing which is able to identify factors in an individual's environment that have a weakening effect on the body's energy system.
     -  The test is completely non-invasive; no blood samples are required and the skin is not punctured in any way, so there is no risk of an  adverse reaction to potential allergens
     -  The patient is required to lie fully clothed on a treatment couch. The therapist will ask the patient to hold their arm in certain positions while she places a variety of test samples against the body. Particular  muscles relate to different body organs. During the test, if a person is allergic or intolerant to a substance this will be clear  to both therapist and patient as the muscle tested will momentarily become weak. (To understand how blockages to the energy flow reveal themselves in this way, we can compare the workings of the Chinese Meridian System).
     -  The test has the advantage of giving immediate results; no need to await laboratory analysis
     -  This form of testing is promoted by
The British Institute for Allergy and Environmental Therapy

Allergy testing at the Chestnut Clinic is carried out as an extension to a homeopathic consultation; the latter involves taking a full case history of the patient. In treating allergy it is important to take into consideration
anything that may be contributing to a person's health problems. The aim is not simply to identify allergens and advise on an elimination diet and /or avoidance measures; the holistic approach is to look at causative factors and implement a treatment plan that will address the root of the problem. For example, if a person is in reasonable health but happens to have an allergy to one or two substances then it may be appropriate to give desensitisation treatment for these items alone. If, however, a person suffers from multiple allergies and is in a poor state of health, homeopathic treatment needs to be directed at repairing the immune system and supporting an individual on many levels; mental, emotional and physical.
