Chester's Blanket Fort #111 December 25, 2006 2-6AM
on WPKN 89.5 FM Bridgeport, CT / WPKM 88.7 FM Montauk, NY / wpkn.org / wpkm.org
This show was dedicated to my friend Wai Cheng, who passed away a few days ago. I'm still completely speechless about this... Wai was one of the first people I met when I moved to NJ and started going to all these crazy electronic shows... he seemed to always be there, at every show. I can easily say I've met very few people as enthusiastic about music as he was. He ran two groundbreaking, uncompromising electronic labels (Dyslexic Response and Isolate) and also made music under the name Optic. His live performances, played on all analog gear, were completely astounding. This man was a very important part of the underground electronic scene, as he helped organize countless shows, and released the first CD by Venetian Snares, plus music by many other amazing artists. But more than anything else, I just knew him as a really incredible person, and I'm totally shocked that he's gone. I miss you Wai.

So the first set of this show was one of the standout tracks from the first Venetian Snares album, plus a live set by Wai, recorded in Austria in 2002. After that I did a Christmas set, and the last 3 hours were my "best of 2006" special.
