Phoeinixville Hospital Medic 95 was the Advanced Life Support unit of the Phoenixville Hospital, located in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Medic 95 was licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health to provide advanced life support emergency medical services to an area of approximately 130 square miles in Chester and Montgomery Counties. The unit was available to respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week from our base at the Phoenixville Hospital, bringing life-saving Advanced Life Support providers and equipment to the scene of medical emergencies and traumatic events. The team worked together with the local ambulance squads, suplementing the service they provided with advanced skills such as IV therapy, Endotracheal Intubation, Cardiac Defibrilation, and the administration of emergency medications.
Medic 95's crews consisted of highly skilled and well experienced Paramedics and Pre-Hospital Registered Nurses. The State Certified Paramedics had many years of combined EMS experience. Many had met the rigourous requirements and earned recognition from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. The Pre-Hospital Registered Nurses came from varied nursing specialties, including Emergency, Critical Care, Pediatrics, Trauma, and Flight Nursing. All had recieved specialized training in prehospital emergency medical treatment and were certified and licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
On October 15, 2002, at 0700, Medic 95's final crew completed their shift. At the same time, several new ALS services began their service, making a smooth transition. From this point on, paramedics from West End Fire Co # 3 and Uwchlan Ambulance Corps would cover much of Medic 95's previous area. Additionally, several already established ALS services, such as Friendship of Royersford, Goodwill of Pottstown, Medic 93 from Brandywine Hospital, and Trappe Fire Co. Ambulance, would provide additional ALS coverage.
Medic 95 served the community for 15 years, and was part of the original hospital-based ALS system in Chester County.
