SAFE KIDS Chester County is a non-profit coalition made up of a variety of organizations throughout Chester County, Pennsylvania. SAFE KIDS Chester County is one of 300 state and local coalitions, all part of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to reduce unintentional injuries for children under the age of 14 and to increase the community awareness about the prevention of childhood injuries. |

| It's the time of year again... Whether you ride the bus, walk, bike or catch a ride with mom or dad here are some important safety tips to make sure you arrive at school safe and not to mention, on time. Riding the Bus: 1.) Have a safe place to wait for your bus, away from traffic and the street. 2.) Stay away from the bus until it comes to a complete stop and you are signaled to enter. 3.) When dropped off, exit the bus and walk 10 GIANT steps away from the bus. Keep a safe distance between you and the bus. 4.) Use the handrail to enter and exit the bus. 5.) Be aware of the street traffic around you. Walking: 1.) Walk with a buddy. 2.) Wear reflective material to make you more visible to street traffic. 3.) Mind all traffic signals and / or your crossing guard. Biking: 1.) Be sure to wear your helmet! 2.) Walk your bike through intersections. 3.) Wear reflective material to make you more visible to street traffic. 4.) Mind all traffic signals and / or your crossing guard. Whether walking or biking never cross the street against a light, even if you do not see any traffic coming. Riding in a Car: 1.) Everyone needs to be buckled up properly! 2.) Older kids in seat belts, younger kids in booster seats and little kids in child safety seats. All safety tips were provided by the National Safety Council. |
