National Chess Camp
August 23 - 29, 2009
at the National Music Camp, Camp Wahanowin, Lake Couchiching, near Orillia, Ontario. Cabins with indoor plumbing and electricity.
Activities: Chess (4 to 5 hours a day) and Camp (balance of day and evening). Recreational activities include swimming. canoeing, volleyball and tennis.
Faculty: Ted Winick, Goran Milicevic, and Natalia Khoudgarian, Canada's top-ranked woman.

Chess Institute of Canada organizes chess programs in schools during regular school hours and after school. We have worked at schools in the Toronto District School Board, Toronto Catholic District School Board and other schools.

Chess Institute of Canada has weekend chess clubs through the school year, closed for the summer.

A free drop-in program of Chess Institute of Canada.
Space provided by City of Toronto, Parks & Recreation.
Fully accessible. On site for parents: St. James Town Branch, Toronto Public Library, open Saturdays 9:00am-5:00pm.
By subway: at Sherbourne Station on the Bloor/Danforth line, exit and transfer to 75 Sherbourne bus southbound; bus leaves at 9:53am and every 20 minutes thereafter (3 minute trip). Or, at Castle Frank Station on the Bloor/Danforth line, 65 Parliament bus transfer to 94 Wellesley bus (westbound); 65 Parliament bus leaves at 9:54am and every 12 minutes thereafter (6 minute trip). From Wellesley Station on the Yonge/University line, 94 Wellesley bus (eastbound).
Parkdale Community Centre, 75 Lansdowne Avenue By subway: at Lansdowne subway, take the 47 Lansdowne bus south to Seaforth Avenue. From the 501 Queen Streetcar get off at Lansdowne Avenue and walk north to Seaforth Avenue, the Centre is at the north end of the school.

Tournaments
We direct inter-school tournaments, sometimes rated by the Chess‘n Math Association. Chess Institute of Canada organized and directed the 2007 Waterfront School Invitational Team Tournament. Attended by over 50 students from five schools (Forest Hill, Huron Street, King Edward, Lord Lansdowne, Waterfront). First place: Grades 7-8 The Waterfront School, Grades 4-6 Forest Hill, Grades K-3 King Edward. Individual results on the Chess'n Math Association (CMA) web site, highlighted by Huron Street Junior Kindergarten student Julian Tabbitt's score of 5.5/6, resulting in his debut on the CMA Rating List at Number 1 in Ontario and Number 2 in Canada for Kindergarten students!
In 2006 Chess Institute of Canada organized and directed the first team chess championship for Jewish Day and Supplementary schools from Ontario; 14 teams attended.
Chess Institute of Canada organized and directed the West Quadrant Qualifier of the 2005-6 Toronto District School Board Elementary Team Championship, in three divisions: Senior (Grades 7-8), Junior (Grades 4-6), and Primary (Grades 1-3); 23 teams took part.
Chess Institute of Canada entered 19 teams (1/3 of all teams!) in the 2006 Toronto Scholastic Team Championships, run annually by Chess'n Math Association: 6 teams in Grades K-3; 4 teams in Grades 7-9; and 9 teams in Grades K-6. Our Deer Park P. S. team (Michael Kleinman, Aaron Wu, Robert Lin and Tian Lan) tied for first place in the Grades 7-9 Division. Our Palmerston P. S. team (Matthew Worden, Kosta Kalenteridis, Juliaan Posaratnanathan, and Jeremy Worden) tied for second place in the Grades K-6 Division.

Community Fairs
We participate in community fairs in streets and parks, providing rows of chess sets and a crowd-pleasing large chess set. When funding is available a master can play simultaneously with all comers.
