B.P.O.E. Centennial History and Status

Two year before Oklahoma Statehood, around the same time oil was discovered im Glenpool, a group of twenty-six men met in the pioneer community of Tulsa to discuss the establishment of a place where they and otheres of like mind and purpose could meet for fellowhip and relaxation. Also of concern to those early Tulsa movers and shakers, was the promotion of activities that would foster the growth of their community and benefit its citizens. In the end, they decided to apply to the Grand Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for dispensation to from a Lodge in Tulsa.

On July 13, 1905, a charter was granted for Tulsa Lodge, No. 946, to hold sessions in the City of Tulsa, Indian Territory. Officers of the Lodge in the big city of Muskogee traveled to Tulsa to install the original slate of officers.
