Dexter’s, Smith’s & Lang Surveying lead chess league 

   Smith’s Awards & Trophies closed the gap against Dexter’s by half point in round 7 of the varsity section on Wednesday, January 19, 2005.  There is a three-way tie for third among Dr. Gonzalez, Northwest, and Dr. Laroche. 

   Individual standings in the varsity division: Greg Henry (Dexter’s Service Center captain) remains in first with a perfect 7 points. Ryan Ferguson (captain for Smith’s Awards & Trophies), Ron Buchheit (Dr. Gonzalez), and Bob Ferguson (Northwest Savings Bank) are tied for second, followed by Larry Causer (Bauschard Dodge) and Rob Ferguson (Bradford Window) tied with 4.0 points. 

   In the junior varsity section, Smith’s Watch & Clock Repair advanced to tie with Lang Surveying.  Both teams have scored an amazing 19 points.  Gravitz & Associates is in clear third place with 16 points.  Hamlin Bank and Tasta Pizza are tied for fourth with 15 points each.   

   Chris Borland (captain of Smith’s Watch & Clock Repair) continues to hold the lead in the junior varsity section.  Nico Alvarado (Lang Surveying) and Caroline Douglas (captain for Gravitz & Associates) are tied for second place. Angel Achar (Lang Surveying) maintained fourth, and Tasta Pizza’s captain Tessa Rhinehart along with Rebecca Stahl (Hamlin Bank) are tied for fifth honors.
