Dr. Laroche, Lang Surveying, and Smith’s First in Chess League

Round two of the 14th annual Bradford Businessmen’s Chess League competition took place Wednesday at School Street Elementary. 

            The results for the second round in the varsity section have kept Dr. Laroche’s team in first place.  Dexter’s Service Center is tied in game points but is a half point back in match points.  In the JV section, Lang Surveying and Smith’s Watch & Clock Repair are tied in match points with Smith’s just one game behind.

In individual play, the top scorers in the Junior Varsity Division are Angel Achar and Nico Alvarado (both members of Lang Surveying), Chris Borland (captain for Smith’s Watch & Clock Repair), and Caroline Douglas (team captain of the defending champions Gravitz & Associates).

Top individual scorers for the varsity section are Greg Henry (captain for Dexter’s Service Center) and Bob Ferguson (captain for Northwest Savings Bank).  Jessica South (captain for Dr. Laroche’s team) and Ryan Ferguson (captain of Smith’s Awards & Trophies) are tied for second place.
