Why I am giving up on Geocities after 5 years:
- Popups over my page. Take a look at the right
side of this window.
- Can no longer control placement of popups.
- Gave up on the entire idea of community. (eg Heartland)
- Lost my user name when they became Yahoo!Geocities.
- Lost all the categorization. (eg Travel)
- Lost ftp uploads for basic free accounts.
- Now they've taken away HTML uploads for subsidiary
directories like this one.
- 3 Gigabytes per month, hourly, translates to 4 Megabytes
of transfer per hour, or just one or two picture-intensive
visits each hour.
