This is my house. The gargoyle is at the bottom of the downspout
(circled) at the right of the picture. When I get access to a better
scanner, I'll post clearer pictures. (The original photos are much
better than these images!)
Here is the gargoyle in action, deflecting water away from the foundation
of the house. (If water doesn't flow through it, it's merely a grotesque,
not a real gargoyle.)
Felix Rust, who worked at Forgotten Arts, in the back of Leavitt and Pierce,
Tobacconists, Harvard Square, Cambridge, Mass, designed and cast this
gargoyle for me, based on one serving a similar purpose on
a somewhat more stately building in Paris. (He doesn't have
a web site yet.)
This icicle grew over the Thanksgiving weekend 1996.
