For sale: 1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible
I probably should sell the car, but for now I've
decided to keep it.
But here is a description of the car for information purposes.
Drive it this summer; or show it next spring.
Restored to good Grade 3, maybe a tired Grade 2
350 cid V-8. 3 speed automatic transmission.
2 barrel carb. Granny gears.
Carb was rebuilt by a general auto mechanic, but the
engine still stalls if I stomp the gas coming off a stop.
Any ideas? I hope to have the husband of a friend, an
enthusiast, take a look at this later this year.
As of 2001, replaced distributor, and had first good tune-up
in years. It doesn't stall, and it starts hot.
Deluxe interior
Frame has been rewelded to solid, not driven in winter since.
Floors replaced.
Less than 1500 miles on rebuilt transmission.
Engine was rebuilt, but more than 50,000 miles ago.
Current mileage is 177,000
Body is extremely solid.
Fenders and quarters replaced with NOS.
Camaro convertible quarters on rear -- refabricated for
proper Firebird lights.
Some bondo and rust in door skins.
Front chrome bumper has been replaced, but not perfect.
(Lifetime warranty.)
Rear bumper is new as of summer 1999. Car was rear-ended,
and repairs included new rear bumper, tail pan, tail panel;
new paint on quarters (whiter than the white on the doors,
fenders, and hood -- that's as much as Fireman's Fund Insurance
and Schneider Auto Body was willing to do.)
Good Rally II wheels, with emblems, all around plus an extra.
All interior vinyl replaced a few years ago.
Some paint overspray on vinyl -- needs a good cleaning there.
Power top.
Needs new rear window (fogged, replaced with a sheet of vinyl),
should have new top.
Power top hydraulics leak.
Top is probably worst thing on car.
Carpet is getting tired -- I have a replacement in box.
I have power window setup in boxes.
Power brakes, front disk brakes from donor Firebirds.
New dual exhaust
Replaced factory 2-into-1
Has exhaust manifold leak (this is the second-worst thing on the car.)
Aftermarket gauges nicely installed
in dummy panel to the right of the steering wheel for temp
and ammeter.
Vacuum and oil pressure under the dash.
Working radio (digital AM/FM/Cassette), but thieves mangled that part of the dash.
Same professional, adult owner since 1985.
Since then I got married, bought a house, we have
three babies. No more free time.
Car is located north of Boston, Massachusetts.
I'll be glad to deliver it, after sale, anywhere between
New Hampshire and New York. If I were going to sell it.
I bought it in Brooklyn.
I have the Pontiac Historical Services packet on the car,
which show it sold through a Brooklyn dealer. Options match.
Color was originally Expresso Brown.
Was asking $6500 -- if you want a bargain, look elsewhere, because
it's worth that much to me.
And since it's off the market, I guess it's worth even more to me than that.
Appraised three years ago, before new tranny, for $7000

Has Massachusetts title, plates are off for the winter, car is garaged.
I drove it to work on nice days fall, 2000, and left the plates
and insurance on it. I hope to drive it as soon as it's warm enough
and the snow and salt is gone, target April 1, 2001.
Drove it spring, summer, and fall 2001.
It's probably going to stay in the garage a long time.
