On Sunday, September 16, 2001 around 1:00 p.m. I was going to the local grocery to grab a few things for a soup I was making. Inside the front door of the store is a community bulletin board. I noticed a few flyers announcing a candelight vigil in our neighborhood park at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening and decided to go.
While there, I found out that community leaders had only decided that morning to have the vigil and sprang into action. These are pictures from what turned out to be an extremely moving and healing event. |

Not a bad turnout with only 7 hours notice. I estimate around 2,000 people from our community turned out for the event. |
