| 8/16/02 - It's been a long time since I've posted and update on Callie, so her it goes. Callie is only being checked once a year for her heart. She was seen today and her doctors think everything looks great. Her scar has healed nicely and is hardly visible unless you know she had the surgery. She's growing and developing as a normal child would. She's growing very quickly in height but isn't putting on much weight. THis is probably due to the fact that she tries to keep up with her older sister all the time. She's taken some lumps along the way, bet she still thinks she can keep up with her older sister. It's such a joy watching them together. One thing the doctors did tell us, was that she may have to have valve surgery when she get older. This is due to the fact that they had to remove one of her valves to fix the original problem. Since it's a relatively new surgery, there is no hard data as to how well kids with this surgery do over the long run. We fell good about things right now, and that's all that really matters. If we have to deal with another surgery in the future, then that's what we'll do. That's all for now. More updates coming soon. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| 9/25/01 - Callie had another checkup last week with her Cardiologist. They did an EKG on her, which showed everything was fine. They have decided that they only need to see her once a year now, unless a problem arises. She is growing at a pretty quick pace and is now 31-1/4" and weighs 22 lbs. She has certainly taken on a personality all of her own and can handle herself just fine when dealing with here Big Sister. She's a sweet little girl just like Caitlin was and it's such a joy seeing the two of them together. As usual, I'll update again soon and might even put up some new pictures one of these days. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| 3/27/01 - Callie had a checkup last week with her Cardiologist. She received an EKG as well as a sonogram of her heart. Everything looks great. She will be checked again in 6 months just to make sure everything is still going well. She weighed 19-3/4lbs and was 29" long. She's getting so big so fast. She's started pulling up on everything and will probably start walking soon. That's when the real fun starts. That's all I have for now. I'll update again soon. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| 1/31/01 - Callie had her 9 month checkup (2 months late because of her surgery) this past week. She is doing great and getting big. She was 29 inches long and weighed 18lbs 6ozs. She has decided that she doesn't want to crawl, opting to scoot on her bottom instead. So now we call her scooter, which Caitlin thinks is funny. She waves hi and bye, says oops when she drops something and says mama and dada, which make mama and dada very happy. That's about all for now. I'll post new pictures soon and plan on redesigning the picture pages of the web site. Check back later to see the new design. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| 10/12/00 - Callie had another checkup September 13th. Her EKG was fine and everything seems to have went well with the surgery. She had blood work done to test for a disorder that is sometimes linked to Tetralogy Of Fallot called Di Giorge Syndrome. The results came back normal and showed no signs of the disorder. This was obviously good news to us and really took a load off of our minds. She doesn't get seen again for 6 months so I probably won't be updating that often. I will add pictures pretty often so look for those. As for Callie milestones, she now has 2 teeth but is not showing any interest in crawling yet. All in due time I'm sure. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| 7/31/00 - Callie had a checkup last week and everything went great. Her heart sounds normal to both the ear and an EKG machine. She doesn't go back for 2 months, so it looks as though she's out of the woods. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| 7/6/00 - Callie's surgery on 6/29/00 went really well. Dr. Sell performed the operation and came out of the operating room singing. The procedure didn't take as long as anticipated due to the problem not being as bad as they had expected. She was able to come home with us on 7/2/00, after only 4 days in the hospital. We are very much relieved that things went as well as they did and that Callie is doing as well as she is. It was by far one of the toughest days of my life, as I'm sure most of you can imagine. Cheryl and I are thankful for all of our family and friends who prayed for us and called to make sure everything was okay. It really means more to us than you will ever know. That's about all for now. I'll update again after her next appointment. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| 6/26/00 - Callie had her pre-operative physical with her pediatrician on 6/23/00. She is in great health and should be fine for her surgery. She weighed in at 12-1/2 lbs. and measured 24-1/2" in length. That's 4 lbs. and 4 inches in just 4 months, so she is growing and developing really well. She is still scheduled for surgery this Thursday, 6/29/00, so check back later for an update on her operation and condition. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| 5/24/00 - Not much to report on Callie at this time. Her surgery is scheduled for 6/29/00. She has not had any "Blue" episodes and hopefully won't between now and her scheduled surgery. She continues to grow and develop at a normal rate. At her last appointment, she weighed 11 lbs. 4 ozs and was 23 1/4" long. She laughed for the first time today. We are having her 3 month pictures taken next weekend so look for new postings on her picture page real soon. | |||||||||||||||||||||
